I got the samsung instinct from telus on a 3yr contract for $130 and was able to agree on a plan with no data plan (i dont want to pay for extra features).

I have a few questions concerning unbranding my phone!

1. Would it affect my 3yr warranty/client care if I got my phone fully unbranded?
2. Where is a trustworthy & affordable place in the LOWER MAINLAND/GREATER VANCOUVER area of BC for unbranding?
3. How much does it cost?
4. Is it worth it?
5. Anyone know any tutorials for ringtone-unbranding for the Intsinct? (or should i not attempt it?)

Also, i was surprised to find that there was no video option ._. is this normal? I'm able to record/watch my own videos but i cant watch my own files (eg shows) and stuff i heard there was a patch coming in the fall but i dont know if thats a rumour or not..

LASTLY, does anyone know if i can use GIF (animated) files somehow for my display?
Would 'unbranding' it allow me to do so or does that have nothing to do with it?

yes its normal that telus doesnt have a video button they blocked that and the youtube button etc etc..
so far as i know it it cant be done unbranding telus ><
I hated my samsung instinct so bad Lol and i actually paid fully for the phone but i bough it at a store in guildford and its doesnt do any return or exchange what so ever period, hate Telus.
the only ringtones you can use is the one they have or pay like 3$ to dl >< and not much to customize on that phone.
There is a rumour goin around saying there are updates but i been talkin to the Telus reps and none of them said their is one.
I dont know what you can do maybe stick with it for a year and sign another contract with Telus to get another phone ><

As for me im just gonna payout my contract at the end of december =/ so i went to the lowest plan telus has to offer for the time being.
Im with rogers phone right now and i love it..so atm i have 2 active phones Lol

with telus if u want a phone to customize and do great things so far smartphones are good from telus. my blackberry pearl did more then my samsung instinct Lol.

btw their excuse of having all this bug is because they launched it too early.. and they wanted to launch it before school started.. but bell launch the same phone 2 weeks earlier and theirs are better then telus Lol.

lol sad to say but if you were telus you should have gone with the HTC diamond it operated on windows mobile which a lot better than samsung instinct

sorry i just felt like replying but cant help about the unbranding. Since Telus operated on a CMDA network its a little different than unlocking gsm and it woul have been much more easier.

I agree with you actually i regret not geting that phone but instead i went with the instinct lol, Telus called my today but i missed it ..I wonder whats that about.
