I'm sure many of us post-college, upon entering the real world, feel completely lost and whatnot.
Getting stressed w/ finding out what we want to do...
getting ssad because we feel like we need a SO but can't find them...and seeing friends marry left and right,

So what do you do to stay in a positive mood?
What goes you going? A great job? A great supportive network? A good bf/gf?
What are some things you do to keep yourself looking in the LR and keep yourself from falling into a deep black hole? What do you do to stay motivated???

God.

It's quite simple.. for me, the only true constant is God. Everything else can disappear.

God, I want to dream again. Take me somewhere I've never been. This time I'm not scared. facebook

How does this work exactly? If god is real, and truly wants to love us all.

Why do I have to find him, why can't he just find me?

He supposedly watches me sleep and suffer everynight right?

Cruel!

Why does he let the TC suffer?

You sound bored.

Find a few things that really interest you and get involved with them. The rest will take care of itself. smile.gif

I never stay in a positive mood. I can't. I can't do anything nowadays without getting depressed, because everything reminds me of better times. My life torments me like I'm trapped inside an inescapable forest for eternity. I guess getting drunk takes away my mind. At least I don't have to think.

It's difficult to understand why God would allow such suffering to occur in our lives especially when we feel like we are left to ourselves in the midst of trials and tribulations. Where there is good there is also evil and with the gift of free will, God has allowed evil to exist on earth and allowed us to choose how we live our life and make decisions that can direct us down a different path from what He laid out for us. When I read or hear about tragic events that occur around the world I, admittedly, wonder sometimes why God would allow such things to happen. But, then I have to remind myself that evil will always exist as long as good exists on earth and with free will God allows people to carry out actions influenced by the evil nature that resides in them. I mean without free will humans would be mere puppets! To bring it to more of a personal level, when I struggle and as I struggle to deal with the issues and troubles that I face daily, I do get down about my current situation but I don't STAY down. I ask God to help me realize that I can use this opportunity to show my faith, love, and hope that I will not be weak and submit myself to a negative/hopeless mentality, but that this also is an opportunity for God to show the power and mercy of His grace. I'm really sorry if this sounds like I'm preaching, but I'm just offering my perspective on how I try to deal with discouragement. Thanks for reading...if you got this far. tongue.gif

Why do some people like to say this, whenever a tragic event occurs.

1. "oh, it was gods plan"

2. "oh, your mother was such a good person, god is just taking her home early"

another thing.

Why whenever something crazy happens. Like a kid falling 13 floors, and not breaking a single bone.

1. "omg, its a miracle"

2. "omg, there really is someone looking after this guy"

When it was simply, because he rolled off of several roofs and landed in thick brush.

Sorry, thats science, not god.

Another thing.

Why are there stories of parents not giving their kids treatment, because they prayed to god to save their kid. And chose not to use the drugs that have been proven to battle whatever the kid was having.

And then the parents going to jail for neglect? (cause the kid died)

I am motivated by successful and happy people, and the goals that I set for myself in life.

I never felt lost at all in what I wanted to do in life after I graduated, but I did feel a bit curious as how things will turn out. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able get the head start I wanted, however I did, and from then on, it was smooth sailing.

I had the support of my family and lately, my gf, so that was what helped me where I am today.

God is also my source and my strength in the difficult times. He comforts me and encourages me to march on boldly. I know that he has a purpose for me and as long as I'm passionately chasing my God given purpose, everything else is just the brussel sprouts you have to eat from time to time. Terrible to swallow, but still good for me in the end.

I try and figure out how to turn an issue I am facing into a learning experience. I hate difficulties as much as the next person, so I really try and learn what I can from each one, so I don't have to repeat the experience again.

I think when we allow our eyes to stray and lose focus, it tends to make our situations even more overwhelming. If a football player focuses more on the people who are tackling than the importance of holding onto the ball, then he's already lost his grip. Similarly, when I focus too heavily on the trials and concerns that are trying to pile on top of me, I lose my grip. It's not usually easy, but I'm working really hard to focus on my purpose and living a more abundant life while keeping all the other stuff in my peripheral awareness.
The only good high is an Epik High.

have dreams, have hobbies, have a list of things you want to have and work them all out one by one.

exercise and read books. exercising and getting stronger not only helps you feel good after a good workout but boosts confidence. if you can get stronger [by increasing weights/reps] you will transfer the idea that you can do better to other things in life. at the same time knowledge is what creates opportunity. the faculty of imagination is what enables inspiration and helps one to think of creative solutions to get through life's troubles. so read books. new perspectives [whether fiction or nonfiction] will teach you some valuable lessons that you may never learn in life.

on a deeper level, figure out what you're about [reading books can help with this]. your identity that stays consistent throughout your life. i'm sure everyone has a self-identity. they just prefer not to ground themselves in it. for instance, for a long time, i knew that my life was all about people, but i used to think that the best way to go about service was through nonprofit entities. for a long time i told myself never, i wanted to earn more money. but i think i was shortsighted. working in the 'people' industry can be anything i do, as long as i can find my purpose within any job i do. i write software, and while at first it was about writing code, now i see the end user in my mind, and i make it for the user. how it'll make that user's life more convenient and help that person be more efficient in their work. stuff like that.

my life is about people. im in the people business. whether i'm making software, feeding the hungry, writing a book, it doesn't matter as long as i know what i'm about. 'know thyself' and you will know what to do and where to go, and through progression, you're going to find your peace and joy in life. nowadays, work doesn't feel like work. it's challenging, but i like it, and all that really changed was my own perspective on what i do. maybe someday i'll do something totally different, but my purpose/goal will remain. and ultimately, this progression from where i am now and where i want to be is what motivates me. i want to do better and i want to reach the goal, and i tell myself that i can reach this goal. that's all there is.

all the while, see good friends. eat good food. do fun things [not the bar, but maybe ride a bike or walk around the town center]. you don't NEED an SO. i been single 3 years. dating on and off in between, falling in and out of 'like', getting stalked and rejected... but life goes and no one dies. hehehe... just live it dood. 90% of it is in your head... set it straight. find a goal and empower it. confidence and knowledge will go a long way.

listening and learning from friends and their experience in life.
such as...most of my friends are married/divorced with kids and they're still under the age of 23-24
some are unhappy w/their spouse, they have financial problems, stability issues, developed some kind of dependent substance abuse problem ...etc
at first this all seemed very discouraging to me but i realized that...i can work my way around it by staying positive.

i appreciate the things i have and the things i don't have
the things that i need and the things that i don't need
i do whatever that i find enjoyable and makes me happy
i don't compare my achievements with others
i do my hair, dress up and look nice even if i don't have anywhere to go
swimming and jogging frees my mind
volunteering gives me a sense of hope
spending time with the cancer patients at the children hospital makes me value the importance of life
being around genuine good people encourages me to grow into a better person
share what i have with others
keeping things simple
just being a kid a heart tongue.gif
watch lots of cartoons, especially "south park" mmmk.

to stay motivated?
have realistic goals
understand that change doesn't happen over night
keep yourself busy
do it, even if you don't feel like it
I would never let a woman kick my ass. If she tried something, I'd be like, HEY! You get your b*tch ass back in the kitchen and make me some pie!

I actually want to believe in God, seeing how people who have this faith system seem to get all this support, etc. in times of need. But I just can't bring myself to, no matter how much I would like to believe there is a God. Well it doesn't seem like God exists for me. At least I can't believe it right now. I would like to though.
Bitter, sweet, the price of a forbidden passion. The black rose, who will cry for her? For she is only an illusion, a mirage that only exists in the deepest realms of ones desires.

Because God thinks that kid who fell off that roof still has so much potential left in his life so God blessed him with a thick bush.

Some people just don't believe in God because they're not trying hard enough to turn to Him. He really does do great things, but sometimes people don't see it because they just don't put their whole heart into or or really do anything about it.

If you really want to stop feeling discouraged, just live one day at a time and write down a list of things you want to accomplish for the next couple of days. Take small steps to accomplish those goals and gain some patience, patience and hard work will definitely pay off in the end if you just wait a little, meditate, and ask the Lord for help sometimes. It may seem like God doesn't care, but he never responds to things right away, it's all about patience.

I always write a to-do list to keep me on track of my things and it keeps me on a roll. Always keep contact with your friends because they're always there when you need to talk to them and plus they're in your network and they can help you find a job. There's no point of feeling discouraged, if you feel like crap, then do something about it. You can't just sit there and sulk about it (you're wasting time if you do that) Pick your butt up and do what you have to do to fix it so you can feel happy and productive again.

I always try to stay in a positive mood. Volunteering has always been my escape. With my free time, I tutor children with down syndrome and every 2 weeks take them bowling. I also volunteer at a children's hospital where I am playing with the ill children in the playroom. I volunteer as a big sister at the Boy's and Girl's Harbor. Whenever there is a fundraiser, I usually volunteer to bake. Volunteering keeps me from falling into a deep black hole. Seeing the smile on the faces of the people I interact with, lifts my spirit. Just knowing that I am doing everything I possibly can to make a difference in someone's life is reward itself.
My boyfriend is my number one support. When I am stressed, mad, or sad, he always seem to find a way to cheer me up. blush.gif

either you have a horrible chemical imbalance or something ( perhaps a series of events or maybe just one event ) has led you to think this way. i'm really curious as to what made you the way you are.

i get discouraged when i think about how i do the saaame mini cooper everyday. i think about school and how i have taken almost no classes at all when everyone i know is graduating. i just feel like i want a change. maybe it's time to go camping or something. sleep.gif lol.
