I'm currently fluent in english and korean, but i'm trying to learn another language as well. I hope to do translating as a career later on, but i wanted to find out if there were anything I could do to help now? I would love to do work from online and have things translated from english-korean, korean-english. it doesn't have to be paid work because I just want practice.

Go ask Subtitles websites and translate those korean subtitles into English for the pleasure of all of us ^^

Yeah, there are bunch of subbing squads for k-dramas, manwha, and even for certain music groups or celebrities when they appear on variety shows.

i would suggest trying to translate newspaper articles in korean to english, and vice-versa if you feel comfortable.
basically, translators usually translate into their native language or the language they're strongest in.

i have to sometimes do translation for work, and it's pretty boring haha.
i was thinking about doing translation as a career too, but ugh...hmm...

if your uni offers any classes related to translation, take them.

translators actually don't get paid too much. usually by the word or by the page.

but yeah, newspaper articles, short stories, comics, anything that you want to try at, try it!

Or you can try for TV programms. My friend does the English and Bahasa for our local network on a part-time basis but she owns more than the other typical(like waitress, sales promoter etc) full-time job.Good luck.

If your university has korean courses talk to the head of the program about maybe doing an independent study where you translate and they check it something like once a week, or they might even know people willing to pay you who don't want to pay the full price of a real translator...I've taken translation courses and the professor who taught it was not a native speaker of the language but did get her degree in literature and writing (english)..depending on what you want to translate you may need someone of that caliber who can give you constructive criticism on your writing style, because with a difficult/complex language like Korean that doesn't have many mirrors into English you may not know your translation sucks until you have it checked and get the "wtf o_0" look..for straightforward translation fields like business, sciences, math etc. it wouldn't be that important, but for a field like literature you would really need to be an excellent writer of English as well.
I'm not sure about it as a career but it would definitely be an interesting side job! I enjoy it
