Yuya Yagira survives apparent suicide attempt

Reports have come in that 18-year-old actor Yuya Yagira was hospitalized early Friday morning after an apparent suicide attempt. Yagira had attempted to overdose on drugs in his Tokyo apartment, but someone called emergency assistance and he was taken to a hospital. His condition is said to currently be stable.

Reasons for Yagira's suicide attempt are unknown at this time. His agency has not mentioned any details, but they said that they are currently looking into the matter.

In 2004, Yagira became the youngest winner of the Best Actor award at Cannes for his performance in Hirokazu Koreeda's "Nobody Knows." He has appeared in a few movies and television dramas since then, including last year's "Houtai Club" and a voice role in the animated "Genius Party."

This kind of got my attention because I have watched "Nobody Knows" before and I was extremely touched by the story. It made him the youngest winner of an award in Cannes history. I was quite affected by this news since I used to like him a lot and he didn't look like the type to do this kind of thing. Plus, he's so young, just 18. I hope he'll be able to be strong and face whatever challenges he's facing which caused him to attempt this.

A very talented young actor. I feel bad for his attempt but feel glad that it wasn't successful.
Maybe he should take a break from the limelight....
He's young and a lot more opportunities will come to him in the future

nobody knows was so touching and i adore this kids since he acted so week in the movie. being 18 and having these sort of depression--i think its more toward family issue. but thats just me. hope he's alright.

WTH?! He's like,one of my fav actors! His future ahead of him is so bright but yet he tries to commit suicide?? Sigh...i hope he realised his action was really immature and silly >.<. I dun want anything bad to happen to him

WHAT?! no way. He seems so unlikely to commit such a thing as suicide. Well maybe not as I do not know him personally nor really know of his status in Japan. But thank goodness he was stopped and unsuccessful. He's a great actor with so much ahead of him.
I don't need another celebrity death of an upcoming actor....

I'm am totally shocked! I adored him back in the older movies he's done when he was younger. I always had a liking for him, and still admire him as an actor today. He seems so ....not the type to do such a thing. but I guess you can't really judge a celebrity. Things happen in their private lives which drive them to do unthinkable things.
I hope he recovers from this...and hope things work out better for him in the future.

Such a young guy, with so much talent. =(
