I saw an ad for frys Pavilion Media Center M8530F

750GB 7200RPM SATA HD
Nvidia GeForce 9300GE 256MB with hybrid techology

What do those mean? >< im not as nerdy as i thought cuz i have no idea if that work 700dollars or not

That should be adequate for you. The only part in question is the video card which may be a bit low end but WOW isn't as demanding as you may think.

Vista SP1 means its the newest version of vista with update. They advertise that in hopes people will be willing to use vista.
5gb is excessive... and is basically temporary storage for your computer.

I guess the best way to explain it would be a CD drive is slow... if you copy the files to your C drive it would be faster right? Well that ram is temporary storage to store things from your C drive and all that for temporary use. Like it stores all the files of the stuff you have open at the same time so it wont have to get the files again. Most people are very happy with 1gb on XP and 2gb on Vista.

750gb is the total storage you have on the hard drive. I think you would understand that... its just how much you can save on the computer.

Geforce 9300 is the video card.. it will handle the video and graphics part of it. I don't know how capable that card is... but its better than what you normally find in laptops but slower than a lot of cards out there.

If its a quad core at $700, its pretty decent deal.

hmm
that seems...
kinda overpriced..

prolly comes with some really bad motherboard

and some really crappy ram with bad timings

and stuff

just go to some store
like
i don't know
but custom it cause

big companies always add like
150+ to the actual price required
or you can be awesome
and build it yourself

here are some parts i can suggest
but if you don't want to build your own you can go to some small store that sells computers
and buy from there not like big companies like hp or stuff like that cause..they cost too much unless you don't really care about the price and that it just works

okay since i knwo nothing about amd
it's gonna be intel
btw these are canadian prices they should be around the same or a bit lower in the us

motherboard - asus p5q 140? ish
harddrive - western digital caviar se16 640gb - 80 dollars ish
case? personal preference
power supply - antec earthwatts 500 60
processor - by 5 world of warcrafts do you mean all open at once? or just have 5 copies on the harddrive?
if it's 5 open at once

get like a q6600 for around 200

ram get 4 gb kit of 533 ram for around 60 dollars

video card..

get like i dunno a 8800 gt for around 150

oh yeah os vista home premium 120 ish

wait.. that actually costs more.. but it's alot better

actually all those prices are abit more then they are in the us so it should be around 800
and that was just stuff i thought of if you really want to build

then could pick out better parts and stuff

like better valued

32-bit Windows Vista can only read 4gb of ram as 3.2gb.

I can't see how there is such thing as 5GB of ram.

Sticks at the largest come in 2gb at the current moment I believe, how do you get an odd number?

Is possible with 2x2gb and 2x512mb. WOW has always been more of a RAM game, but I don't see how 5gb us necessary at all. 4GB would be more than enough.

You both totally ignored my statement that 32-bit windows cannot go higher than 4gb.

and even then, it only sees it as 3.2gb

You have to remember the topic starter... isn't even sure about what those numbers mean! If I couldn't understand looking at just the specs, I can't imagine even beginning to consider selecting the parts and building a computer.

@TinyTom I know its very odd for them to put in 5gb. I don't think most people need anything more than 4gb. And yes, the computers with 3+ gb will come with Vista 64.

Quad is cheap. A Q6600 is only 190USD now. Throw in a budget mobo with cheap ram and vista with a ok vid card (8800 GT) and you'll be under 700USD.
"But when it ends and while it ends, something comes, after so much rage, persistence, obstinacy, extravagance; something entirely unexpected and touching in its mildness and goodness. With the motif passed through many vicissitudes, which takes leave and so doing becomes itself entirely leave-taking, a parting wave and call, with this D G G occurs a slight change, it experiences a small melodic expansion. After an introductory C, it puts a C sharp before the D. . .and this added C Sharp is the most moving, consolatory, pathetically reconciling thing in the world. It is like having one's hair or cheek stroked, lovingly, understandingly, like a deep and silent farewell look. . . . " (Mann: 55).

I'll break this down for you.

-Your RAM is too much for a 32-bit OS, so then I assume it's gonna have a 64-bit OS. Sucks, better off going 4GB RAM with a 32-bit OS. Also if your Motherboard is supporting dual channels, an odd number of RAM sticks will cut your RAM speed (2x2GB RAM > 5x1GB RAM)
RAM is Random Access Memory. It's for all the things you turn on, IE: running 4 or 5 WoW windows at once. How good your comp can hold them up is dependent on RAM.

-Your hard drive is decent by today's standards. 7200 RPM is ok, if you can get anything higher for a cheaper price go with it. RPM is how fast the disk spins inside the hard drive, resulting in faster saving/deleting.

-You graphics card kinda..sucks? Do you know if it's onboard or an actual separate card? I'm not sure what you mean by hybrid technology either? If you mean SLI, it's pretty worthless right now.

7200 RPM is just ok? So what is good by your standards? A 10k rpm WD Raptor that costs 3 bills?

It's a Velociraptor now!! ^__^

Plus Hard drive speed/performance doesn't really matter once the WoW's are loaded up anyways.

Unless if Virtual Memory usage is humungous.......I turn that off on my computer though...so...hmm..
