so i'm starting school tomorrow and i'm gonna get my schedule changed. for those of you who took a zero period on a packed rigorous schedule... would you recommend it? i have the choice of taking a zero period and ending school a period earlier or not taking a zero and getting out at school time. I heard that taking a zero during junior year with ap classes is gonna affect your sleep, and how you study in school.

I never wanted to take it
because I didn't want an extra period.
I'm a lazy person so yeah,
but I don't know. depends on the person.
I have some friends who are taking it and it doesn't seem to be affecting them at all.
they actually enjoy it.

I haven't taken one, but all my friends who have say that it's amazing and worth it. If you manage your time wisely, you'd have more time to study over less subjects. I don't see anything wrong with that.

take it, because for me, the teachers understand that its early and they are more laid back about being late or tired in class
Thats just my school though so... yeah =)

by zero period, do you mean like.. a spare? when you dont have a class?
D= lucky.
id say if you want/can, go for it.
although thats just me.
personal preference i guess.
id take mine in the morning though because my school days, the afternoon periods flip around. one day is 3, 4. the next is 4, 3 etc etc. so id get out early or long lunches =/
(id rather sleep in) =)

no it's a class that starts an hour before regular school time starts. so you get to take an extra class or just start school an hour earlier so you can leave school an hour earlier.

wow, that's awesome. it's never been offered in any of my schools.. ahh, lucky. sleep.gif
i think it would be easier to take it because even though you wake up earlier, you'd be getting out of school earlier as well and having another hour makes the day seem longer and gives you more time to study, do your hw, or review what you learned. imho, having a longer 'day' after school seems more beneficial than having extra time before school, esp when it comes to studying. believe me, i have a free block in the morning & that extra time just goes to sleeping. laugh.gif

it may mess up your sleeping habits, though, so be careful with how much sleep you get. (:

I'll be an incoming freshman this year and I chose to take a zero period class. I don't really mind since I've had a zero period in all my three years of middle school (total of 7 classes lol ;_;) and I'm used to waking up early from that x'D

oh the joys of having zero period. I managed to avoid it all throughout high
school, until I hit senior year. I took zero period for the first time in my life. it's
not that bad, but sleep does become somewhat non-existent lol. I took like 2 AP
classes and 1 honors class. I was usually late for zero period, but I stayed awake
because I had an interesting class and I really liked my prof.

Omgosh. Lol. I have zero period in my school, but I'd never do it 'cause I know I'd phail it due to lack of sleep. xD
But if you really wanna do it, then go for it. tongue.gif

I took zero period in 8th grade for spanish 1.
Other than that, nope. Besides girls choir during 6th/7th grade, haha.

Right now in HS, gosh. On top of all those AP classes?
That would be suicidal. Unless the zero period class is heckof easy.

i had zero period junior year. i haaaated it. calculus at 7 am is absolutely horrible. im really not a morning person, so it definitely affected me cause i was always late to class, always super tired, and i could barely focus. i think having it zero period actually affected my grades in that class lol i recommend not taking it-but it really depends on what kind of person you are and if you can handle being up early.

This depends on what class you'll be taking during zero period. I kinda regret not taking zero period during freshman year...... I'm sure you want to do well in your classes. So if your zero period class won't add too much burden and you need that class, then go ahead and do it. Make sure you a morning person though! Speaking from experience, having AP chem or AP calc in the morning can be difficult.... If you don't want to wake up early, then I'd recommend getting an extra hour of sleep in the morning.

Definitely. I agree.
I took zero period for 3 years and up to my senior year, I really only had to take 2 classes to graduate (the required English and Government) but I took 7 instead because it was all electives and easy classes.
Do what feels right to your schedule. I didn't mind waking up that early .. and even for college now I take all my classes in the morning to get it out of my way.

I also graduated with 50 extra credits.
I seriously should've gotten an award for that mini cooper but I didn't haha.
I was really the only person that took 0 period the whole 3 years allowed.
