My friend lent me his iTouch. I forgot to charge it, so I used it until the batteries were nearly completely gone. I've been charging it for about three hours and the battery level has barely gone up. I unplugged it once halfway through and even though I plugged it back in less than five minutes, the battery level plunged down again until there was hardly any power left. (& I know that sometimes it goes back up again in a few seconds, but it didn't.)
I was just wondering how long it should take to charge, since usually my iPod (30GB video) charges from being in the red zone to fully charged in a couple of hours, & it's a pretty old iPod too. Do you think there's something wrong with the battery? Because when I plug it into my computer and stuff it doesn't even charge, I have to use the dock for it to work ...

My ipod touch takes at the most 2-3 hours to fully charge even when its at the red zone. did you try to charge it on a different usb port or if you have a wall plug that would be much better because the wall plug lets off my energy which in turn charges much faster.

I'm using a wall plug.
It /finally/ fully charged, but then after using it for ten minutes (I used it briefly right after charging it, and then turned it off, and then started using it later in the day) the battery went down to the red zone again. I'm pretty sure I shut it off properly, because that's the only reason I can think of that it would've gone down so quickly ...

you shouldn't turn it off all the way because that drains a lot of the battery power. i left my ipod touch on for the whole night on lock mode and it didn't even go down in battery.

did u use the wall plug made for the itouch? cause i have a wall plug for my old ipod mini.. but when i tried it to charge my itouch, it did the same as yours, didn't move an inch. so i had to go buy a new one that was made for itouch and now it works. it only takes about 2-3 hours for me to charge(when its almost all drained).
