So I'm from Canada, and considering in taking graphics designs or animation & visual effects in the Academy of Art University in SF.. Just wondering is anyone from soompi attending there? What's your experience? Do you like it? Hate it?

I also just love California and think it would be a really good experience to even just live in SF.. Other than the tuition and dorms for that school is effing expensive.. lol ... but yeah i'm wondering would it be worth it to go there

That's my dream school too. But tuition plus housing are expensive. $3300 a month?! No way, but SF is a beautiful place to live. I'll probably go there once I finished my degree. If I have money of course.

I'm enrolled in the AAU's online program as an Illustration major. smile.gif

I live in New York, and I figured it'd be kind of expensive moving all the way to California... sweatingbullets.gif I started classes last Thursday. So far I really enjoy it. Even for online classes, the courses are still quite intensive.

yeah their dorms there is rediculously expensive >_> it would probably be a lot cheaper to just go out and find roomates somewhere else..

The thing about online classes, especially, in art school is that it isnt really as fun as actually being taught by the professors there.

I don't go there, but my roommate did, so I have some advice on the financial side. You have to make sure that what your major you are choosing is what you want to have for the rest of your life. If you are on the fence about your major, it's DEFINITELY not worth the money. My only other main concern would be if you do end up going to the school, you are going to want to get a job. The cost of living is expensive as well as an 8.5% tax on stuff.

She did complain about the people who went to the school, she said a lot of them were really pretentious and conceited, but that was just her talking and in all honesty she's a bit of a complainer and I've worked with plenty of people that went to AoA that I really liked biggrin.gif.

So hopefully that helps a little :3
