Well in that case, if you do go to traffic school (usually you have to admit guilt for this option), then the point can be wiped off the record. Without that point on your record, the insurance company won't know and therefore no raise in insurance rates. But just so you know, court fees and traffic school aren't cheap (possibly a few hundred). Just so you know i don't think you can go to traffic school twice within a 18 month period (i think)... so if you do it now, you can't do it again for 18 months (in case you get another ticket, which then will probably go on your record).

yeah but at least it wouldn't on your record for the insurance company charge extra for three years. It's worth it, I'd do it.

Traffic school can be literally nil if you take online ... that's what my boyfriend did. But for California rolling through a stop sign he had to pay about 200$ for ticket (oops, typo).
Just take it as a lesson for the future ... don't speed 5+ over the limit. :/ It's safer that way. (haha, double-meaning)

I thought the insurance company retains their records for 7 years. My accident 4 years ago is still appears on my insurance statemeny... oddly my insurance never went up, but actually went down from that point.
