I am taking some online classes, as I don't drive.

I have 2 online classes and 1 1/2 online 1 there class.

They are okay..the one thing I don't like about them is that I feel I have to constantly be on them! My one teacher wants us to very active on the message boards (which I don't usually mind doing) but it seems harder to do for a class.

Anyone else taking classes online? What do you think of them?

I have taken online classes before.
I prefer to take my classes on campus.
If I feel comfortable with the subject
then an online class shouldn't be hard.
Some subjects I will not understand unless
I am actually in class hearing the information.
You don't have to constantly check them.
Maybe once or twice a day or so.
I had a class where you had to discuss
on the message boards as well. Just think
of it like a forum. smile.gif Good luck.
Remember to stay focused and do your work.
It can be difficult to stay on task sometimes.

I've taken an online class once. I didn't like it a bit. Mainly because I think I learn better if I see, hear, and meet the professor in person. It's difficult to finish homework/projects sometimes. Also hard to find someone to study with.

I'm taking one right now and I don't like it. Like paperdollove, I also learn better through visual and listening. As of now, I have no idea what's going on in that class. We have a test next week and I'm so lost. tears.gif

^ can I ask what classes/courses for the online classes you guys are taking?

I'm taking a partially online class right now.. we still have class once a week but it might as well be fully online cause in the class the teacher just tells us to go online in the lab. she doesn't really "instruct" us lol.

But it's an English class so we just analyze and write papers anyway.

The only thing I hate about the online class right now is that the instructor writes in the most hideous colors when posting or doing announcements on the message boards. and it's in all caps and stuff.

it feels like I'm on a forum where the newbs like to type in hard-to-read colors , TYPING IN CAPS. BIG FONT.
and all the paragraphs and instructions are jumbled with no organization.

she freaking writes in 6 different font colors and different font sizes.

^ That's horrible. I'd hate having my professor writing like that!

This is the first year I'm taking an online class, and I have two of them. Buth they're more hybrid classes, where I have to show up to class every once in a while, like once every two months. But I like them so far, my professors don't have us do discussions. We just post our work and read the required stuff. Otherwise, it's not too bad. I dont think I'd be able to do it if I have to constantly be online doing online discussions. But if I had the choice of an online or in class class, I'd choose the in class. I always tend to get more out of it, instead of having to learn everything on my own and not getting any info or background information from the prof.

i just took one for the first time this summer. i thought it was kind of hard because i couldn't stay on top of things and we only met 3 times in 6 weeks (i wish we met more often, my teacher was really nice!). i didn't read/watch anything i was supposed to, but i was lucky because my teacher was pretty easy. i managed to get an A in the class, getting by with reading shopgirl and watching "hairspray". phew.gif participating in the online discussions were easy for me because my teacher didn't grade us on what we wrote but that we did.
i have a love-hate relationship for online classes. no one makes me do anything, so i get to chill. then again, no one makes me do anything, so i fall behind. o.o

they're evil... i can see them whenever i want. which means i'll never see them. i'll memorize the concepts to death and pass the class without really watching more than 2 lectures. u get an idea of what the prof is about within a lecture or two. it really doesn't motivate. and i tend to waste time on other things, like... doing nothing =/

i took an online course over the summer & thought it was pretty good. if you're willing to stay on top of things and you're committed to being a self learner i think online classes are great for you. it doesn't mean the work is any less but it's convenient if you have other things to do & can't always commute to class & such.

i like online classes. i can wake up and sit and "go to class" in my pajamas --- except never having to leave my room!

usually many of the classes require posting on the discussions a minimum amount of times, but it really isn't that bad. usually, i just read other people's answers and kind of create mine by taking bits and pieces from everyone else's lol.

it's just hard sometimes because you have to remind yourself to keep up with reading and such.

the best part is taking the exams online, and having your google and aim next to you to look up any answers/ask people =)

I have to respond to questions in the discussion, in which I did..which was a meet an greet. I did my meet and responded to a few of the other people..mostly those who didn't have any responses...and even answeered questions people asked me.

I got a grade of 0 participation!! .....this is not going to be a fun semester.

I also dropped my online/in class Math class due to lack of online instruction of the teacher, and she said practice tests weren't graded...which she ended up grading.
