Why business admin? if you're going to choose business admin, then you might as well choose Econ. Why not accounting or finance?

I would personally go with econ. I always prefer a more traditional liberal arts major, and I don't think there are many jobs that a BBA would give you a chance at that you wouldn't be able to get with a BA in econ.

I would not go econ. I graduated with pretty much an econ major from UCSD and jobs are hard to come by for econ majors. Everyone wants finance or accounting majors, especially accounting majors. Econ, especially at my school, is oriented toward research and is not very applicable. I'm going back to school to get a master's in accounting because I couldnt find a job I liked holding an econ degree. One pretty good possiblity with econ is to go into consulting but you can have any major for that.

I disagree with Ronmexico. BBA gives you LOTS of opportunities. I'm not exactly sure what you can do with an Econ major, because it's a liberal arts major (meaning you will graduate with a BA or BS). I got my BBA in Information Systems and before I even graduated, I found lots of jobs all over the states.
I have friends in Finance, Marketing, Real Estate, & Actuarial Science whom all found jobs before graduation too. I think being in the Business School, you get to build a pretty good network...and especially since the business school has contacts with so many employers too. It's definitely a pretty solid career path after graduation.
But I also know friends in Econ who just love their major. They don't want to work for big companies and enjoy a slower-paced environment. Some of them also went straight to graduate school. So it really depends on what you want to do, & what you really like. They are not the same.

I agree with the general consensus.
I'm an Econ Major SDSU and I didn't find many internships/position open for Econ peeps. In retrospect I would of gone Business. But I should mentioned I'm not intently looking. Checking the career services at SDSU, I see a great deal more opportunities for Business then Econ.
The more specific the job, higher tendency of getting a higher salary. Econ is very board if you graduate with BA.
1) Business Majors get B.S. Bachelor of Science instead of a B.A. Bachelor of Arts. Statistically speaking B.S. ppl get paid more.
2) Econ is good for following up with graduate schools. Usually, Law, Business, or any Masters. Like the others mentioned before. So more school for you if you wanna utilize your Econ skills.
3) Its falls in Liberal Arts, which means you gotta learn a 2nd language. Boo! That requirement is delaying me. BOO!
Well that's the requirement for State at least, could vary in other colleges.
So F* Econ go with Business.
Anyways Good luck
