If you've been skipping rope everyday, why don't you look down
at your calves and tell us whether or not they're bigger instead
of asking us?

LOL

Yea it varies from person to person. I think it's in the bone structure of your legs. Mine are kinda slanted/crooked so they got bigger and muscular. But my sister has beautiful straight legs and her's just toned/got skinner. lucky girl.

Your legs might get more toned at the most. Unless your skipping with ankle weights, there's not really a good chance you'll get bigger legs. Moreover, if you're a girl, it's probably almost impossible to gain significant muscle on your legs just by skipping. Skipping is pretty much all about cardio haha.

It is cardio but when I compare it to all the running I've done,
skipping does help with more muscle building.

But it's not like IT WILL GIVE YOU MASS, RAWR!~
Nonono.. for me, it helped shaped my calves and thighs. (Like raise the muscle upwards and be tight instead of all wiggly and ish)

So in short, this is a good thing.
There's gotta be more to life than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me

Because losing weight/gaining muscle isn't like.. jump rope, and then over night BAM.
It's gradual, at small increments. And you gain muscle slowly and gradually, it's hard to notice differences right away.
Take your hair for example. Your hair is longer now than it was 2 weeks ago, but it's hard to tell.
To you it might look the same length, and to the people around you who see you every day it might look the same
but a stranger who sees you for the first time might be like "HOLYFCKLONGHAIR!!"

And it's the same concept with getting bigger calves.
So stop trying to be all smart about your answers. You aren't as cool as you think you made yourself seem with those comments. (Although YOURS2ENVY was more helpful in that she posted some links)

BUT.
basically restating what everyone else has been saying, your legs will tone down before bulking up. Even if you do gain calf muscle, they probably be so unproportionate that they're distracting. Although you'll have to keep working out so that muscle doesnt turn into fat ..

You mad? It's logical to look down.
Also you're incorrect in part of your post. Muscle never ever turns into fat.
Muscle and fat don't convert into each other. Muscle cells thin over time
if they are not used. However, it never turns into fat.

About the bulking thing, your calves will never bulk and become that large.
After a certain stage of bulking (which wont be that much because you're only using
your bodyweight) they will require more stimulation to grow further. They will
not get it unless you put on weight, so they will not grow any further.

Skipping 1000 times a day + 7 laps of swimming (back+forth=1 to me XD) I actually think mine are slimming down or at least staying the same, while i lose weight. I've been doing it for about two weeks now.

I dunno haha XD, i gues i'm kinda used to running and jumping alot because of basketball practice XD. but i always make sure i get a good stretch before and after jumping, that way you don't get cramps as you jump and you're not as sore and stiff the next day XD

Hair growth has an approximate one half of an inch per month. Of course you can't tell, but you already know what it is. You just don't question it, lol... it's realistically, the same for everybody as long as you're healthy & growing. smile.gif

With jump rope because it VARIES from person to person, you can use tape measure (or a piece of string, just cut it at the point of circumference) around your leg. Check in two or three weeks and if the string is no longer the same size or if you've added inches, then it's gotten bigger. I'm sure every house hold has some string around. Use a piece of paper even. Mark it. mellow.gif

It's not the end of the world, but that's why you're new - you've never seen the other threads before. There's thread directories in certain sections BECAUSE of repetitive threads. smile.gif I wouldn't be surprised if there was going to be one in this section too.
