LOL. I had that in middle school. Seriously, what was the point of that.
Not like anyone followed it hahah.
EDIT: Oh yeah, does anyone else have this stupid cell phone policy? If they catch you with your phone on, they take up your phone, and you can't get it back unless you pay $15. Freaking expensive rule.
I have both of those. For the tardy people, if they're late for a certain period, they get sent to OCS (on school suspension) for that period. And after that period is done, they just go on with their schedule.
& for the cell phone rule in my school; if you get it taken away, you can have your parents get it for you or if you don't want them to know you got it taken away, you can pay $5 to get it back.
Rofl, I had that in middle school. So dumb. & the dances were dumb too T___T
Some rules @ my school:
- No cell phones are allowed, but ipods/mp3 players are
- We have to wear our ID's on a lanyard and use that to get into school every morning. If you don't have it with you, you have to pay $1 (or $2, I forget) to get a temporary ID which I think is a ripoff cos the temp ID's are stickers with your name on it T____T
- You have to have your ID on at all times =___=
- We have a strict dress code: Shirts have to have a collar & be in school colors, khaki/navy pants, no denim T_T, sweaters have to be in school colors and no logos, undershirts have to be navy blue or white, no slippers or opened toed shoes, etc. But at my school, our student store sells "spirit" shirts & sweaters that we can wear instead of collared shirts.
& there's administrators driving in golf carts around the campus, I guess spotting the rulebreakers?
LOL, I find it hilarious whenever I see them drive around xD
Haah, I don't follow some of those rules though

No bandannas because they are gang-related.
We have to have our IDs on and visible at all times.

we have these things called "logbooks" every mistake we make is recorded.
we have to wear long undershirts under our uniforms for girls and boys
no hair coloring for girls and boys
no skin head or bang with long hair for boys
we can't pick our prom dates. for junior girls we get paired with senior boys. for senior girls we get paired with junior boys.
on prom the dresses have to below the knee and cannot be sleeveless or show cleavage.
we cannot enter the school wearing anything short or skimpy or even wearing slippers.
we have a mass once a week.
we have to wear our ID at all times and we can't decorate it or anything.
if we come late we have to stand outside the classroom or sit on the hallway floor for the whole first period.
also we aren't allowed to play or get sweaty during breaks like recess or lunch.
phew. i can't wait to get out.

-Fringes that cover too much of your forehead/face isn't allowed. They either ask you to clip it back or cut it off (somehow)
-Winter stockings can only be purchased from the school and nowhere else. Apparently they can 'tell' if you bought it somewhere else.
-You can't wear necklaces with a crucifix or cross. I find it odd since I go to a catholic school. o_o
-You have to wear the school blazer to and from school. They don't care if you take it off during school, but each time you enter/leave the gate, you need to have it on no matter how freaking hot it is.
-You need to wear the school bag. If it breaks, they tell you to get a new one (obviously) but it's not cheap so they give you second hand ones until you can get a new one. T_T
-Only ponytails. No side ponytails or pig tails.

I used to go to this ghetto school which i HATED because there was no freedom at all.
1. No jeans (those were the only type of pants i had)
2. No hoodies (but what if it's cold!? i live in friggin new england!)
3. Absolutely no red (same as other soompiers)
4. No hanging jewlery
5. You had to walk in a strict line to get everywhere, there were cops in the hallways, and other teachers with walkeytalkeys
I don't remember the rest, i hated that school so much, it smelled like a giant bathroom. I tried to forget everything from my experience there
in my current school
1. Sign out when you get a pass
Sign in when you get to the bathroom
sign out when you leave the bathroom
Sign in when you enter your class room
(This takes soooooo long, you get your pass signed, you sign a book, you sign another book etc. It takes like, what, 5-6 min to walk to the restroom and do your business, but with all this signing it takes a 8 min minimm.)
2. If your late you have to go to tardy detention, which is the next day at 7am (school starts at 7:45) and if you miss it you get 2 etc.
Not much else, there are alot of rules, but not many ppl to enforce it. Besides, there are always LOOP HOLES.
******************************FUNNY STORY**********************
Dress code: no skirts shorter than length of arms
So lets just say their names were thing 1 and thing 2.
One day thing 1 and 2 were wearing the same exact supppppppppper short mini skirt
(not to be mean but) thing 1 was a bit chubby while thing 2 was very thin.
When both of them went to class, thing 1 was stopped in the hallway and was reported to the principals office, and was sent home to change.
while thing 2 went through school with no one bothering her.
hmmmmmmmm, mean much? but i thought it was funny when i heard about it.

we had to use plastic ones
yeaaaah that happened to me in like grade 3 o.o
i was like hm... LOL.
err well, at my middle school,
the straps on your shirt had to be at least 3-4 fingers wide? o.o;
we didn't really have stupid rules when i went there XDD
but, then the next year the evil new principal made all these dumb rules X_X;
[cuz my old principal i had died in a boating accident? o.o]
yeah, one that i remember was that 'no hugging' o.o;
the reason: people were being late for class cuz they were hugging in the hallway? LOL.
yep.. my hs is pretty chill though, luckily XD

I'm so glad I'm out of high school. I remember there were more strange rules in middle school than high school though.

soo stupid...
no tank tops
no eating outside the cafe
#61
Posted 12 September 2009 - 09:50 PM
no holes in jeans
no baggy pants
no chains
no grills - lol
no bandannas
no cell phone and other electronic device use during school hours - if you get caught then you have to pay $15 to get it back
no spaghetti straps
no tank tops
no bras showing
no boxers or other undergarments showing
no skirts or shorts shorter than mid-thigh length -
no piercings except in ear
no tattoos showing
no hats or head coverings
no sunglasses
no facial hair
no mohawks
no unnatural hair coloring - like blue, green, pink
also the one that pisses me off the most: if you are late, you have to walk all the way to the main/central building to get a tardy. what really sucks is when you're in another building 5 minutes away, since my high school is really big, and there are a lot of different buildings. when they give you a tardy, they hand you a "receipt". you have to keep all the receipts you get, and once you acquire 5 or 6, you get detention and have to turn in all your receipts. if you lose them, then your detention time is doubled. BS

We're allowed to use our cellphones/ipods ANYWHERE, like in the hallways except in classrooms, auditorium, and the library. <-pretty good rule
No food in the hall way...
uhm...uh i'm trying to think some bizzare rules...
Ahah! You can not dance back to back and must dance face to face. And there will be like 3 security officers. and if you're under the suspicion that you are on drugs/drunk, they'll get the police to check you. And if you're not, then you can go back to the dance (what? No apologies?)
Students outside of school can not come to fall dances but can come to like Senior Prom/semi formals (not in fall)
uh...don't leave trash on the floor!
and the basic, try to dress modestly. But no one pays attention to that unless like your shirt is so sheer, you can see you're nipple or you're skirt/shorts are sooo short that you can see your crotch...
Hm...no smoking/etc and can't wear shirts that are inappropriate are has swear words on it.
otherwise...my school is pretty nice. They just installed a big flat screen tv in the cafe, but it's always on the sports channel >.> (or hq team donated the money they won)

We have to wear lanyards with our ID tag on them -.-'
Or we can't even enter the school.
It's bothersome. And I forgot it once and had to go home, hence received a tardy.
Oh joy~
It's for security purposes. They're just making that the only people in that school are the ones that belong there. Some schools have had issues with people who had graduated or just people from other schools coming over and doing whatever, which is most likely why that rule went in to place.
I know that some schools have this but.. I'm not entirely sure why.
Again...security issues
NO HATS RULE
SERIOUSLY? What is the point? They justify banning hats only because it helps them recognize who goes to the school and what not. But if every school has the same rule, any intruder would OBVIOUSLY not wear a hat. How stupid can this rule be?
Also, new rule this year. No energy drinks allowed on campus.
EDIT: Oh yeah, does anyone else have this stupid cell phone policy? If they catch you with your phone on, they take up your phone, and you can't get it back unless you pay $15. Freaking expensive rule.
Sounds a lot like my high school. We all of a sudden got a new principal due to our old one having been out most of the year(and therefore had no interaction with the students) and I guess they decided he was away too long? So they promoted him I think and gave him a job working for the district. We had tardy sweeps as well, though lucky for me I was usually to class on time.
Our cell phone policy was the same as well, which they changed to the same year they went to tardy sweeps. $15 a pop can really add up...
Also, to the dancing complaints, nine times out of ten they're just trying to keep you guys from grinding or doing any other "inappropriate dancing".
I hope this helped some of you guys understand why they're implementing such strange rules, but more likely than not, there's a (sometimes)legitimate reason based on past experiences.

my school is very very lenient compared to your guys'.
we basically can wear anything we want, except bandanas and hats.
we have to wear lanyards with our ID on it though, and you get suspended if you're caught too many times without one but in my three years at my school, no one's been suspended yet xD ~ it was annoying in my sophomore year when they messed up the colours on the ID cards so instead of blue, it was brown D:<

we have special areas where each year group is suppose to hang around. and where i am is like an open field with many many trees and dirt. just imagine a forrest and we are onlyy allowed to seek shelter when its pouring down. so when its like full on sunny or the rain has just stopped raining and the grass is wet and there is mud or if its there is like massive cold winds around we have to be outside.
edit: oh yeah we also have one other rule which is really stupid. if you need to go to your locker or the toilet we have these "diaries" that each student gets at the beginning of the year. There are pages at the back where you get the teachers to sign if you want to leave class. They make you make them with you, even while you are in the toilet. urgh its such a hassle =="
