Who Hates Talking On The Phone? I do.

I mean, if they really live far away then i make exceptions but there should be a limit. For all of those close folks, I would rather just have them come over and we can have a convo face to face. Wouldn't that be better?
with jobs, school and other stressing matters, is it wrong to ask people to keep their convos brief or just come over to talk?

I agree. Hint to them, or just say it flat out--"I have to go do x, are you free on ---. Come over for --- and we'll chat more..."

Good god those things ring and piss the holy blue mustard sauce out of my ears. If there's one piece of technology that I haven't gotten into, it's phones. I'd love to send an ear virus to the telemarketers that call during my sleep time. I'm more a face-to-face and online communicator. I can't remember the last time I picked up the phone to call someone other than my parents.

I agree. I'm old enough to be in that generation that remembers life before cell phones. Hell, even life before pagers.
People just had to know where you would generally be if they needed to call you - or, if you had to make a call you just had to make it a point to have spare change to be able to use a pay phone. Back then people actually had to make concrete plans during the day and after that, time was pretty much on your own. But nowadays, with the advent of cell phones, time isn't necessarily your own and plans can change by the minute with a simple call or text. To me, having a cell phone is like having an electronic leash. There's no doubt that cell phones have had (and still continue to have) a very big and drastic impact on the dynamics of how society interacts.

i get nervous for no reasons and hated the 'awkwardness' when u have nothing to say or when u have to repeat urself because the other line can't hear u properly...
sadly it can't be avoided..

And i hate it more when friends call me up to chat when they are waiting for something.
Like waiting to goto class, or waiting in line...or some sort of waiting.
They feel bored so they call me up to "chat"
then it gets awkward because not only do i know that i'm used as a time-filler, i have to 'entertain' them while they wait.
so then i just dont pickup.

you used pager? wow, you so old...
haha j/k.... I used them too.
Cellphone or no cellphone, I don't like picking up phones. I don't filter calls though...
You know, things used to be different when I was younger. I always got excited when the phone rang. I'd always rush to the phone so I can pick up it before my family did. Maybe it was the excitement of finding out who was calling, because there was no caller ID.
who knows... but now a days, I get a sinking feeling when my cell or even landline rings.... Haha it's so bad. Maybe I've turned into a hermt...
