So lately I've been buying this Korean drink called Aloe Vera.
It tastes very good. It's as if I'm eating candy blush.gif
anyways....my mom told me that its good for the skin but I'm not taking her word for it.
Medicinal Aloe (as it is also known as (not the drink but another form of aloe i guess)) is also used in some commercial beauty products so there could be some true to what my mom said.
Can you guys tell me if it is good for the skin or what else it's good for once consumed.
Since I'm usually concerned about my health, I don't want to continue drinking this stuff if it causes harm to my body

Thanks^^

Haha the drink is really good. I don't know if the drink actually provides direct health benefits but it sure is refreshing. Aloe though is used for a lot of skin products. A lot of my more health conscious friends drink it quite often so I assume its pretty good.

I highly doubt there is any health benefits and if there is any, it has to be insignificant. For one, aloe is great for skin, but this usually regards direct application to the skin and since you're drinking it...what your body absorbs may not necessarily go to your skin.

Oh, and something tells me the sugar content cancels out any of the positive effects of the drink. But hell, it tastes good - WHO CARES.

Nutritional facts label? lol. I doubt it's that great for you
since you said it tastes like candy. It's probably
loaded with sugar.

uuh usually those things contain high fructose corn syrup which isn't exactly bad bad for you but its not good for you either... i dunno how much effect it will have on the skin directly. as long as you eat/drink a relatively balanced diet your skin will be good lol. i love the aloe vera juice though T_T so yummy

lol, just drink the sugar-free one. it's not going to taste as sweet as candy though lol-but it's still good!
as for the healthiness of it..idk. like what sugarlessgirl wrote, its not bad for you but its not good for
you either.

yeah I thought so cause it doesnt say anything about it being healthy or w.e
and i beleieve it does contain quite a bit of sugar cause aloe is originally bitter...very bitter
I guess I should stick with juicing random vegetables and fruits xD but its too much work so forget it
and probably drink less aloe vera
btw, now that i have no health drinks in mind...does anyone know any good drinks thats healthy but also refreshing and tastes good
I know V8 contains a lot of sodium and i dont want to be drinking fruit juices all the time sleep.gif''

I don't think it's necessarily healthy, it's just a better alternative to Hi-C and Kool-Aid. I drink aloe juice allll the time..I LOVE IT<3 And most brands (like the ones that come in the green plastic bottle) only contains 9g of sugar per serving compared to soda which has 40g! and it has some amount of Vitamin C (although definetely not has much as OJ)

xD i just posted a reply to another aloe vera thread:
http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=189015

and then i saw this one.
and yeah, aloe vera is good.
i use to have all these rashes like crazy.
i've tried applying all kind of medication.
i gave up. i was curious to what the aloe vera
drink taste like, so i bought one. It was pretty good
so I kept drinking it and eventually, the rashes went away ._.

and i was wondering, does it help you lose weight?

SAME! O_O;;

I used to drink a LOT of this stuff [I bought like 12 bottles and finished it in a month-ish, lol] but then I had to pee every 30 mins or so. o_o;;

After I stopped, I started drinking tonnes of water. For some reason, that doesn't make me have to go pee every 30 min. =/ Doesn't really make sense, but eh.

I never noticed a change in my skin when I drank a lot of it.

Aloe Vera drinks have SO much sugar in them. I wouldn't be drinking that stuff for health benefits because it's kind of unhealthy because of all the sugars. Have you tried eating straight aloe vera pulp? It's disgusting.
