i dont know if a topic like this has already been created if so, please close it!

so i'm 15, and today my teacher was telling my class about the student exchange program
where you go to another country and attend school and live wth a family there.
i was actually very interested in it, like how fun would it be to do that! it would be such a great
experience too!
well.. IF i was to do this, i would want to go to australia or japan!!

have any of you guys done an exchange program?
what was it like?
how long did you stay ?
did you like it?

I've always wanted to do one, but the cost of them really kills on my low budget. They're almost $10,000 (or up!) for year programs, and the cost is similar for semester/summer programs. I look through either Rotary or AFS, both very credited organizations...so yeah. I've considered all sorts of countries, and I want to do a "gap year" after I graduate from high school because it'll help me out w/my meaning in life...yeah.

Sigh. I'm still holding on to this slowly-diminishing dream.
