Hopefully my question isn't considered stupid to you guys.
Okay.. so I recently transferred and I'm thinking of joining a sorority. Right now its WHO SHOULD I JOIN! I'm trying to think of other things to look for in a sorority other than the obvious and most stereotypical: the girls IN it now. So basically.. how do you think I should pick? :[ Since I just transferred, I honestly just know the stereotypes as heard from other people. I do know girls that recently joined and they are obviously going to say I should join their sorority (I'm pretty sure they joined because most of their friends are in it). I also know a lot of boys that are in fraternities and they won't give me a straight answer! They bottom line say "don't join." O__o
If you want to know specifics, I'm torn being Chi Omega and Alpha Delta Pi.
Hopefully y'all can help me; specifically girls already in sororities or know friends that are in sororities who aren't biased. :]

best way, go to the rush events and see which one you like better, which one has people you click with better, etc.

well the best way is to just go to the rushes. you need "feel" which sorority best fits you. For example, there is AKA in my school and they are all girly and prissy and all about that kind of frivolous stuff. I'm NOT like that so I know that I won't mesh with them, even though I have many friends in AKA. Now, Deltas are different. They are not as prissy as AKA and more about the community. Sigma Gamma Rho are even more relaxed. Zeta Phi Beta are more in between Deltas and Sigmas. Did that make sense?
All the sororities I named are all black sororities....I don't know about white sororities that much because all this information just came from my roommate XD.

I'm actually in a sorority right now myself.
In my opinion, you should go out and rush BOTH of those two sororities that you mentioned. Try to see which one you feel more comfortable with. Don't go by looks either.. what I mean by that is.. don't join a sorority based on if they are pretty or whatnot. It's going to be hard to back out once you start pledging. There's a lot of pressure in finishing what you start. So make a wise decision before you take a bid. [this is based on Asian sororities]. I'm not too familiar with the other ones.
Personally, for me.. I decided to pledge based on my wanting to have a knit of close friends/sisters. Not so much of the social/boys/party aspects of being in a sorority. So you should evaluate what YOU personally want out of pledging and WHY you want to join a sorority... etc.
Actually, most girls who rushed sororities don't know their pledge sisters beforehand. I mean they might know a few, but that's mostly it. So don't be afraid that you might feel left out. Also, don't ask the frat boys about the sororities.. I think most of the times, they just say nothing but jibberish -__-;
Hope that helps ^^
