TORI AMOS

"Tori Amos (born Myra Ellen Amos on August 22, 1963) is a pianist and singer-songwriter of dual British and American citizenship. She is married to English sound engineer Mark Hawley, with whom she has one child, Natashya "Tash" Lrien Hawley, born on September 5, 2000.

Amos was at the forefront of a number of female singer-songwriters in the early 1990s and was noteworthy early in her career as one of the few alternative rock performers to use a piano as her primary instrument. She is known for emotionally intense songs that cover a wide range of subjects including sexuality, religion and personal tragedy...

Amos had sold 12 million records worldwide as of 2005 and has also enjoyed a large cult following. Having a history of making eccentric and at times ribald comments during concerts and interviews, she has earned a reputation for being highly idiosyncratic. As a social commentator and sometimes activist, some of the topics she has been most vocal about include feminism, religion, and sexuality." (from wikipedia)

I love Little Earthquakes! I admit don't like her most recent album 'American Doll Posse' as much but, 'Little Earthquakes' and 'Scarlet's Walk' are my favorite albums of hers.

I'm a big fan. Little Earthquakes is probably my favorite of all her albums. I own all of them.

She got an eyelift which didn't turn out so great. sleep.gif

Freaking aye, I love her. My favorites: Bouncing Off Clouds, Winter, China, Crucify, God, Leather, Wednesday, and Snow Cherries from France.

My favorite covers she did: Landslide and Famous Blue Raincoat.

Glad to see Tory Amos fans in soompi. Little Earthquakes is a brilliant. I also love Scarlet's Walk, Under the Pink, and Boys for Pele. You guys should also check out her DVD Welcome to Sunny Florida.

Beekeeper sucked though IMO.
"But when it ends and while it ends, something comes, after so much rage, persistence, obstinacy, extravagance; something entirely unexpected and touching in its mildness and goodness. With the motif passed through many vicissitudes, which takes leave and so doing becomes itself entirely leave-taking, a parting wave and call, with this D G G occurs a slight change, it experiences a small melodic expansion. After an introductory C, it puts a C sharp before the D. . .and this added C Sharp is the most moving, consolatory, pathetically reconciling thing in the world. It is like having one's hair or cheek stroked, lovingly, understandingly, like a deep and silent farewell look. . . . " (Mann: 55).

Hello,

I was a fan of Tori when I was in University, but little by little I've found her songs too much related with religion, and finished to get me sick of it after some time. I always have her CDs in collection, but I don't listen anymore.

She is one of my first music loves. I agree that her older albums tend in general to be stronger than her more recent ones.

Favorites: Northern Lad, Spark, Putting the Damage On, Playboy Mommy, Carbon, Past the Mission, Amber Waves, Cloud On My Tongue.
