Its been 3 weeks since 2nd year university started for me, and I haven't had the time to concentrate on my studies. Whenever I tell myself I will hit the books after school and read ahead of the class, I ended up on the computer or get distracted with other things and ended up doing something else instead. I tried turning off my msn, or close the door but nothing helps lol. But the thing is, I use my laptop to type out all my notes =/

If anyone can provide some studying tips, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Well, I'm in high school, and I have this problem too.
I would suggest:
-Go to the library (and don't take your laptop or ipod with you)
Or--this is like reverse psycology--
DO YOUR HOMEWORK WHERE THERE ARE PEOPLE AROUND YOU,
I do mine in the living room, while my mom is there,
because then, even though I have to use the computer,
I can't (even though I am tempted to) go on soompi, or on youtube or something,
or else she'll get MAD.
So it keeps me on track--being cautious around my mom.
But avoid places that could distract you.

Maybe going to the library with a friend?

And just remember to like, give yourself pep talks,
my dad always told me that,
You are going to suffer sometime in your life: either suffer now, and get it over with, OR, play and procrastinate, and suffer later.

Yyyeahhh.
Hey! If you concentrate on your studies now, you may get rich later, hahha!

Sounds like your computer is your worst enemy as it was for me. I would try a different tactic and start taking notes with the classic pen and paper to help stay focused. Like Raine suggested, leave your laptop at home and try different studying environments like the library, empty classrooms, or even a coffee shop.

OMG... you're not the only one BTW

I didn't have this problem that much when I was in high school... because all the time my parents were watching me and ambushing my room to check if I'm studying or playing dry.gif
but then college came...I lived alone... surrounded with all types of temptations... TV, laptop, cellphone, ipod, going out... etc wacko.gif

there was no censorship on my behaviors (mom and dad aren't around) but me...

I ended up sleeping all the time... missing lectures... being in Soompi instead of studying for my exams... so I procrastinated lot of subjects to summer... and trust me... it ain't good thing to procrastinate... it's horrible sad.gif

I agree with everything Raine and Redsprouts said... it's better to do your work in the library or in a public place, surrounded with people... that will force you to finish it, instead of going home to find your labtop and soompi waiting for you tongue.gif

why don't you set up some goals for your future, like I'm studying to....

my goal now is: I'm studying to be a good doctor in the future... save some lives... and maybe be nominated for a Noble Prize biggrin.gif

whenever I'm at home and can't concentrate... I go and take a COLD shower (not hot... like super cold)... that always works well for me wink.gif

also try using the markers when you're studying... it's always fun and keep you focused.
