I've been a long time lurker here and finally decided to create a username

I was wondering (this is mostly directed at guys.. but if the gal did the first move then by all means share!) what runs through a guy's mind when it's his first time holding the girl's hand? By first time holding hands I mean when you first started dating - still in awkward stage, you've only been on a couple dates, etc..

& not only just the first time.. but just the first few times.. when you're still not completely at comfort with each other yet.

so what ran through your mind before you grab the girl's hand? did it happen naturally? nervousness? planned?

opps I don't think I was clear enough. What I meant was what were you thinking before you grabbed the girl's hand? like "should I do it now??" or did you just ask? .. stuff like that. did it take you the whole date to muster up the courage to take her hand?? ehehehe

I'm not speaking for every guy 'cause I held my (ex)girlfriend's hands the first time we've met... I think the alcohol might've contributed a little. But yea, it was exhilarating, to say the least. We just grabbed each other's hands at the same time, then held on the whole night through. Those feelings are long gone, and numbed, so I can't really describe it as well.

I remember when me and my boyfriend held hands for the first time. lol it was so awkward. We couldn't decide HOW we wanted to hold hands so the first couple of times were EXTREMELY awkward. Now it's so natural I don't even think about it. But before it was a new and exciting feeling.

I remember, we were running to the bus stop so he wouldn't miss his bus. I grabbed his hand, and then o_o; continued to be like that until later.
I don't know, I grabbed it, (well i'm not the guy) but yeah, because i didn't want him to miss his bus.

Although the time he held my hand, he understood that I didn't like the huge public looking at me, like I'm omg, coupled with someone. HAHA.
So he held it when he walked me home. O_O; I still refused though. He would try, and be patient, 'cause I kept my hand in my pocket or into a fist. Haha.

hmm... from a girl's point of view (seems to be more of these than guys )

i got the butterflies the first time. haha i wanted to hold his hand but we both kept playing with our hands while we were watching a movie. like, playing with fingers, the back of the hand, the palm, the wrist, and etc. after awhile we got comfortable and i loved playing with the part of his skin between the thumb and the pointer finger <3 i would always poke it and pinch it and pull on it... it's love <3

sometimes while sitting i'd hold his left hand with my right hand while holding his right hand with my left hand (in other words hold both of his hands) and it made me feel really connected with him <3

i remember when i had to take something out of my bag i'd stop holding his hand (and it kind of felt like something was missing, corny but true LOL). but then when i finished taking the thing, whatever it was at the time, out, i would think, does he want to hold my hand still? and he would reach for my hand and i'd be happy. and i did it a few times (purposely LOL ) to see if he still wanted to hold hands or not (since our hands were getting sweaty from the sun) and he always kept grabbing my hands back when he noticed my hands were idle after pulling away :]

It was during the first prom we went to, and he just decided he wanted to be a turtle.

i first held hands with a guy i was dating at the time(not bf yet). btw, this was over two years ago
anyway, it was at Sadies Dance, and he forced me to ride a rollercoaster (our sadies is at an amusement park). He knew I was scared, so he just grabbed my hand and held it the whole ride. I didn't even notice cos I was so freaked (by the rollercoaster). But it felt nice at the time(=

We were watching a movie and I kinda imitated what happened in the movie by holding her hand in a joking manner. Then she let go and said, "no no no, my fingers are in the wrong spot." readjusted her hand and we kinda just.. held each other's hands.. and left it that way.. Then came the finger touching/petting.

I'm very patient (or slow) with skinship so it took a couple months for me to hold hands with my ex, who at the time I was just dating.

Before I met her that day, I was told myself that I would hold her hand.
We spent the whole day together and I was too chicken to do it.
But after a stroll in Millenium Park and walking her back to her dorm, I "accidently" grazed her fingers with mine.
I mustered up enough courage to grab her wrist and move my hand down to cup hands.
She was SO surprised... haha Her hand was so limp, I felt like I was holding a leaf.
I felt really awkward and we just walked in silence, not looking at each other for a bit.
While we were walking, we passed a section on the sidewalk with broken glass and I lightly pushed her to the side and changed holding hands from cupping to interlocking fingers. Oh my gosh. That was the BEST feeling in the world. haha I gave her a little squeeze and she gave it right back to me and we finally met eyes and chuckled together.
It felt like fireworks were going off in my head and my knees were going to give out.
When we arrived to her dorm, I said something along the lines of (in korean) "My hand feels like it was made to fit yours."
Sounds REALLY cheezy, but I really felt that way and I told her everytime we held hands after that.

During the summer, when we held hands and they started to get sweaty, she would grab onto my pinky finger instead.
It was the CUTEST thing EVER!
Every time she did that, I would instantly smile THIS big:

well im no guy either >< and i would sure love to know what he is thinking when he holded my hands the first time while i was half asleep ~.~ then iono what happen but i slept on his hand haha xD wasn't any awkward for me since im use to holding guy's hands xD (even lil boys when they're lost or scared) but having him the first time holding my hand was a 'once in a lifetime' surprise xD
