Hmm so a few weeks back I bought the new iPhone 3g Black!
Now last night as I was sleeping sparks and hissing noises woke me up!
I thought of it as nothing since there seemed to be no noises when I opened my eyes!
Than as I look in the morning! I notice my ipod charger is charred and melted!
And it wasn't just the side that's plugged in, but the side where you put the iPhone!
So I was wondering has this ever happened to anyone?! & what I should do about it!
Pretty freaky though! Seriously! It was like an electrical explosion....
because I saw flashing lights even when my eyes were closed!
(Something flashing brightly was what woke me up, more than the sound!)
So any help or suggestions would be very helpful! Thank-You!

the side where you put the iphone was melted? isnt the original iphone charger the one that uses the USB plug to connect from iphone to charger, and then the charger plugs into the wall socket?
but anyway, i read somewhere that some iphone chargers had to be taken back due to problems which i cant remember lol.
i recommend take it back to wherever you bought your phone from, show the dudes your melted charger and im sure they'll give you a new one for free
.
if your not using the charger that actually came in the box, then use that instead. never use custom iphone chargers. this pretty much applies to every single electrical product that has a power adaptor/charger.
hope this helped..

there's a recall on the iphone chargers.
if your charger has a green dot sticker on it, that means it's the new, updated charger.
read the article.
I don't know if THAT'S the reason, but there IS something wrong with the old iphone 3G chargers.

Apple is recalling the USB power adapters sold with the iPhone 3G in North America and Japan amid concerns they are prone to breaking.

The company announced the Apple Ultracompact USB Power Adapter Exchange Program Friday, which applies to iPhone 3G owners who bought the device in the US, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and selected countries in South America. Apple included a USB power block, shown at right, inside the box for the iPhone 3G in these countries, and the company has received reports that the prongs on that power block can break off and remain inside your wall socket, which is not good. The power adapters sold with the original iPhone as well as the ones sold in other countries are not included in this recall.

No injuries have been reported, but Apple is warning users of those power adapters to stop using them immediately until they obtain a redesigned adapter. Check the bottom of your adapter: If there's a green dot, you've got the redesigned one and don't need to do anything. If there's no dot, it's time to replace that unit.
You can get a replacement unit at your local Apple store starting October 10, or you can order one from Apple's Web site here.

(Sorry I could only link the pictures so yea! Agh!)
The first picture is the part that plugs into the socket/wall agh!
And the second picture is the part you connect to the Iphone,
& you can't see it in the picture, but the metal for the socket is melted!
& it is the original charger that came with the Iphone so yea...
