So i have no experience much with cars since i live downtown and i take the bus every where. and now that im moving to a more rural area im thinkin of getting a second hand car its a 1993 Honda Civic SI with 4 Cyl B16A 1.6 Litre V Tec engine only for 3.7k it looks good and all but my friends say to buy a new car rather then getting a second hand. the civic has 87km on its new engine but im scared of cars being broken down and stuff.

what soompis opinion on this? should i get a second hand car or a new civic.

^ depends what the previous owner has done to the car. Some people take care of their rides very poorly, and for 3.7k? He must really be wanting to get rid of it fast.

Think about the age of the car. It's a 93, so the price seems right. It also matters if you need an economy car, and with those kind of km's, it's gonna LAST.
The time it takes for me to look at you is the time it takes for me to realize it's too late.

3.7k sounds about right.

I almost bought a B16A2 92 Si for $3000. If you know a friend that knows anything about cars. Take them with you, test drive it, and have them look at it.

I dno but that engine itself costs more than the whole car. At least from where I'm from.

100% agree with you.

In tristate, thieves ph34r.gif steal honda for breakfast.

Hopefully it's not the same on your place

Honestly I wouldn't pay $750 more just because he's got a fiberglass rice as a front cover with 34,000 more miles.

Reasons why I...let me say this clearly...I, not you, would buy that 1993 Civic Hatchback:
  1. Rust Free
  2. Less mileage
  3. Stock body parts as opposed to stupid crap put on there not knowing who did it.
  4. More performance parts on it than other one. That's mean more money for me either way.

If you get a newer civic, gas mileage will be so much nicer to you. Vtec drinks up gas like water, at least mines does.

depends where ya live.
as for me, las vegas is in top 3 for most stolen cars.
i already know that they get stolen because our forums for vegas
we have our own sections titled "stolen" xDD
i think thats pretty sad to have a section dedicated to peoples cars that have gotten stolen

when buying a used car, make sure whatever mods were done to the car were done right.
soooo many people THINK they know how to work on cars, yet the put stuff in wrong, thus
leading to many problems

hondas are decent for first cars, unless you get a crap one.

just buy an old school camry, i swear there engines last forever : P
