I'm totally applying to my dream colleges. Some people say it's a waste of time. Some people say you don't have a chance.

How do you know until you try? The worse thing that could happen is not being accepted. I would rather know then to wonder.

i applied to the one college i wanted though i couldn't since there were no vague entrances available anymore

Well if you know for sure that you can't get in, then why waste 50?
I mean literally everyone that Harvard takes have like 96+ averages plus extracirrcular stuff. I definitely don;t have either of those, so no chance of me in.

A girl in my school with a 3.6 GPA got into Harvard. But then...she was the class president and the captain for track and like another club.

I'm applying to Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Yale...just because. I'd feel better knowing I at least tried, cuz there's always a slight chance.

If people were just applying to colleges they believe they would get in, no one would have any reaches. And for most people, reaches = dream schools/top choices.

So I figure I can probably get into the bottom 4, and hopefully 1 of the 3 ones in the middle. If I get in any of the top I will squeal =P

But I'm applying just because, I mean I would love to go to any of my top 3 schools, but any of these 10 schools I really loved and could see myself contributing to. So any of the 10 are fine.

sometimes college can be VERY random in their choosings.

so even if you think you have no chance, you just might get lucky.
better to try and reach for it right?

and you could always get a fee waiver (if you qualify) so you might not have to pay to apply to those places..

my dream school is an Ivy, like almost everyone else.
but I'm not going to get it, so I'm not going to waste money for the application fee, and waste hours writing my app essay.
hey. I'll just go to a decent college, like UCSD or UCI and then go to a more prestigious grad school.

i think i'll apply to Johns Hopkins and Yale. i mean, let's say i DO get into yale (by some miracle), then i will DEFINITELY go, because they offer a CRAZY amount of financial aid now if you're like, uberpoor.

I am applying to YALE, just because they mailed me a letter to explore their schools.
I was really excited, even though it wasn't an acceptence letter yet.
People can always dreams.

Also, I read in their admissions, that every student is evaluated individually and people with high test scores are not always accepted.
That made me smile.

I'm doing this as well, but for other reasons. I'm sending in regular applications to Harvard and Yale. My counselor says I have pretty decent chances of getting in with my GPA and extracurriculars. I'm not interested in attending either school, though. I just want to wave acceptance letters in my mother's face and say, "I do not care about either of these colleges."
