The retail value of the materials purchased (thanks to ebay)
is about 3k~.
Then have about 1,000 for pro installation services, if you dont know how to hook it up. Its really complicated, and custom work. Plus they do crappy jobs just to get the job donne. But we dont need to, we are going to hook it up ourselves.
This is stuff you can't find at your local best buys, circuit city or anything like that. Not even Car toys can match this, if you find this out in retail, then they are priced very very high.
We have done our research
Me and my bro, and my friend has been researching for the WHOLE summer on
-how to work with car audio (crazy topic all in itself)
-how to carbon fiber
-how to retrofit headlights (HID projectors - the ones you see on exspensive cars like bmws),
-autobody filler molding
- how to fiberglass.
And we are on audiophile sites for sound system, and on yarisworld for some yaris stuff. We are all over learning how to learn this trade.
Our next project, besides car audio is either retrofiting headlights, or fiberglass, which we can easily get the materials for.
We are NOT doing cosmetic - or exterior design on our car. Its pointless, because the cars we have are not performance cars. We are also not in any position to exchange or get different cars. Our parents bought it and told us no. And since we are going to have these cars for easily 6+ years, its time to deck it out with the finest stuff around - for experience, and the hobby of it.
Also - when we CAN afford some nifty cars, audio IS transferrable, however exterior cosmectics and performance boosts are NOT.
Everything purchased is self hooked up - wired - and self installed.
Because its fun =). Otherwise if we paid installation, it would cost us another a fortune and not guranteeing the customization we need.
This is for car 1 out of 2
Toyota Yaris
Scion xA
Toyota Yaris= first project car, Scion will be project car number two, probably next year.
RE XXX component

I cannot stress enough - Notice - these Components are just the speakers you put on the SIDE door of your car, but they EACH hit as hard a mini subwoofer. Yes. Crzy. But we are waiting on a super amp, however we are still researching on good ones, easily going to dish another couple hundred $ just on the amp alone.
Kenwood DDX 7017 LCD, DVD, NAVIGATION READY HEADUNIT

This is a niceee touch screen head unit = we already got this installed and working. It even has DVD/navigation.
We even messed with it.. normally you can't watch dvds while you drive. But now you can hahaha
JL audio w6v2

This needs an amp for itself, which we got as well. However notice that this subwoofer doesnt have an 'enclosure' or in common terms, its not placed in a box to hold the sub. You can't just leave this.. so we got an enclosure for it, and this subwoofer takes up almost ALL of the space behind the Yaris's trunk. The idea was to get something that rocked so hard, however we might resell this sub to a friend, as we find something even better.
Second Skin Damplifier( as seen in 'pimp my ride show')
Yes you have all the audio, but you have noise bleeds. We put this damplifier material (by taking off the side door of our car - pics coming soon), and we really work with the REAL part of the door, the metal. A damplifier's purpose is to absorb or make all the sound stay WITHIN the car. So when you rock stuff out, you hear it. We have also made it so that we can't really hear much of the outside when driving Again, you only find this stuff automatically in richer cars. But hell why not.
In fact we sound dampen the whole sides.... we have an Audi a4 too (my dads and he wont let us touch it!).
Our doors beat it =P. Try that for a yaris lol.
pics of the car will be coming soon, is there any audiophiles out there =p
