I'm planning on taking the test in Nov, so I was wondering if anyone took it yet and if so, was it difficult? What type of questions does the test ask you? What do I need to bring for the listening part of the test? Thanks

ah, yes, ive taken this before in like 7th grade.
it was a practice thing and such.
the listening part isnt that hard; they have ping yin on EVERYTHIGN so yeah. its usually a conversation about something.
and i dont really think you need to bring anything special.
theres reading comp, listening, and grammar.
like ^ said, do really well. all the chinese students take it, so they all get like perfects etc etc etc >D
good luck!

I took it last year too and it wasn't hard. I got a 790 on it. The listening part(bring a CD player and extra batteries just in case) is in mandarin and the CD would read you a short passage or ask you a question and then give you a list of answer choices to choose from. It's like multiple choice questions, except the questions/choices aren't printed in front of you. so PAY ATTENTION cause the CD doesn't rewind (sucks >.<) And for the other part, it's also reading short passages and answering questions, filling in the blanks, and multiple choice questions.
by the way, chinese wasn't my first language, so i think as long as you took like 3+ years of chinese, you should be fine. good luck!
hope this helped

You should be fine with it. But like someone previously said, don't miss an easy question. That's bad. There's pinyin for almost everything except for a few questions on signs. And the listening [bring a CD player with batteries] portion. It really is not all that difficult. :]
Are you a native speaker? If you are, you should be more than fine.

Don't get a single question wrong. Because no one else does. One question wrong bumps you down to 750. And no, that is NOT a good score for this test.
I don't think that's true, is it? Because I got a 790 and I KNOW I had more than 1 question wrong since I only got a 70 something on the listening part.
Anyways, if you've taken years of Chinese, you should be totally fine. I speak Cantonese and I got the lowest score out of the three sections in listening (but the listening questions were pretty easy).

Thank you guys. Well, I speak Cantonese.. so I'm not a native speaker :| But I did go to chinese school for like.. years. It's been a while since I actually spoke Manderin. Ahhh! I'm quite nervous.. but I heard that many people get really high scores on this test. So I am a big disgrace to the asian nation if I don't at least get 750..

The AVERAGE score is 760. As of two years ago, anyway. So if you got a 750, then you'd be BELOW average. Colleges look at the percentile of your score, especially for this test. Don't get a single question wrong and you'll be fine. But really, doing that shouldn't be hard at all.
