i'm not tonight, but i used to do it all the time. back in the day when we had days of going in at 9, and coming back out 6 the next morning. of course, thankfully, this wasn't a daily thing, but every other day for a span of a few months, which is still bad. how many of you guys have worked those long hours and came home only to see your spouse/significant other/family come out to start their day?
i didn't like it back then, but when i think of it now, they're somewhat bittersweet memories. i think it's how we all grew close with coworkers. 3am del taco nachos FTW!

I remember in my first job, on my first month, I was required to stay alone overnight at the office and liaise with our London office on some matters. Mind you, I was in the office that morning at 7.30am, I ordered pasta from the Italian place across the road. The garlic prawns was delicious.
Meetings were a bore but were needed to take place. Whilst the Poms were yapping, I was playing FEAR on my laptop.
Finally finished phone conferences by 3am and was too lazy to catch the taxi home. So I spent a night at the Harbourview hotel across the road and then came in to work at 10am the next morning.
Business as usual.
I don't like working long hours, sure it can advance your career but I'd rather care more about my health.

I once went to work on a Thursday 8am and didn't get off work until Friday 5pm. I doze off for an hour inbetween but never left the office. Tiredness gets to a point where you're sooo sleepy that you don't need to sleep anymore (if you know what i'm saying). I was going off pure adrenaline by Friday morning and i swear i could've worked until Friday night if i had to.

I guess I'm lucky... I never had to pull too many all nighters for my job, but I think when they're infrequent, and you have coworkers besides you, it can be fun, especially going out for food.
Those 4am heart attack on plates at Denny's... or showing up at Dunkin Donuts 5am sharp to get their first batch of fresh donuts. So delicious...
But I think I've used up all my all-nighter juice back in college though... once I passed out on the floor in front of a lecture hall. No more... I need my 8 hours a day now, otherwise I feel sick the next day.

That's one thing I loved about the US, their 24 hr eateries.
I remember flying into Colorado from a delayed flight at 12.30am (Colorado time) and the restaurant and room service was closed at my hotel. I popped over to Dennys across the street and had myself a steak, apple pie, cheesecake and cookies and cream milkshake.
Loved it.
Over here, there are very, very few establishments are that open 24 hrs (7-11 doesn't count), let alone open till late.

Yeah I do that now when me and my suitemates don't feel like sleeping and then get hungry. The Denny's is right next to our campus soooo... yeah. Nobody finishes those pancakes.
Anyway, it doesn't really count as going through midnight but last summer I had to work two jobs because I volunteered at a summer camp but needed money so I got another job as a reception at a spa. Then it turned out that the director of the summer camp program appreciated the job I did and hired me. So I worked from 8a.m.-3p.m. with kids that were going to 5th grade (probably 8 years old?) and then after that I would have to commute for an hour, eat lunch and dinner, then worked from 5p.m.-closing (generally 10p.m.) at the spa. Then another hour commute to get back home. The bad days were when customers just wouldn't leave even though we were closing and were just chilling in our lounge and I had to stay past 10p.m. for them to clear out after we inform them of our store times.
