Only 10,000 were sent to the US from 1991 to 1995 and I got one!

They were Lotus cars with Toyota drivetrains and marketed exclusively by Toyota. They have a mid-engine design and handle amazingly well. I think they look way ahead of their time. People have actually asked me before if it's a late model!!! I tell them no, it's a 1991 and their jaw usually drops. One guy thought it was a Ferrari because there was a specific model that looked very similar to this 2nd generation MR2.

There was also a 1st and 3rd gen but they aren't as sought after.

Anyway, here's a few pictures.. smile.gif

Nice! Looks hella clean...How about any interior pictures?
How many miles? And performance mods?

Not really a big fan of Mr2's prefer the 93-94 FD's but none the less a great car

Sorry, what's the FD?

It had 90k when I got it. 115k when I sold it. I miss the hell out of it though!

It was so reliable and smooth. It was built like a vault. No squeaks or rattles. Awesome transmission.

Interior was super clean, never smoked in. I have more pictures but I'll have to find 'em.

I kept it bone stock -- cosmetically I had considered a 93 tail light but other than that I wanted to keep it configured as new.

From what I read in the past, which is still hearsay, it was in the MKI MR-2 that the suspension and handling was done with Roger Becker. MKII MR-2 had nothing to do with Lotus.

Why say FD instead of RX7? Is it not 'cool' to type that extra character? Ooh, three whole letters. I guess you gotta be elite to throw that kind of lingo around. *rolls eyes* Come on, guys.

The MKI was borne out of a Lotus/Toyota collaboration and the MKII was hand-built by Yamaha in limited quantities.
I really love the mid-engine layout. Once you drive a mid-engine you have to re-learn the dynamics of driving. It's really great.

The third gen RX7 is nice too, but hard to find one that hasn't been totally jacked up with aftermarket junk.

When I tell others what my car is, I say Z06, not Corvette.

It's not about being elite rather just an acronym that quickly identifies a generation or a model of a car.

No, it was the MR2 that looks similar to Ferrari. Ferrari had the car design into production before Toyota, otherwise it wouldn't labeled as a "Poor Man's Ferrari".

Because saying RX7 is really vague. Saying RX7 would be like saying Civic.

I have a Civic Si.
What kind?
Hatch.

It could be an EF, EG, EH, or EP. I mean come on now, that's vague.

Come on dude, get with the program.

I never thought of a Mr2 as a exotic car and "ahead" of their time
The dude thinking it was a Ferrari might be car illiterate to think that
