I installed TVants onto my laptop and to my surprise, as it worked like a charm on my other pc, no channels load in the Search tab. WTF?!

I seem to be getting the following error in yellow when I checked my events:

This has never happened to me before. I browsed around and added the server fanshop.no-ip.info but still didn't work. I also saw something about editing my "hosts" file and it said do the following:
The problem may be caused by DNS server unable to resolve the IP address of www.tvants.com correctly. The resolution is the manually set the IP address for www.tvants.com in the hosts file of Windows operating system:
1. Click Start -> Run.
2. At the text box after Open:, key in “Cmd” (without quote).
3. Press Enter.
4. Key in at command prompt: cd c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
5. Key in at command prompt: edit hosts
6. Add in the following line: 211.155.224.14 www.tvants.com
7. Save the hosts file by pressing Alt-F then pressing S.
8. Exit the edit program and exit the command prompt.
9. Restart the TVants program and search for channels programs.
But when I try to key in "edit hosts" I get this message:

I found another way to edit the hosts online using notepad and put this in:

...and still no go.
I've uninstalled TvAnts and reinstalled and readded the different servers, turned off my firewall, and everything and I still can't get it to show any channels and I'm beyond frustrated! If somebody knows what to do (besides get rid of Vista, I bet this is a stupid Vista problem as I've never encountered any of the multiple problems I'm having with Vista) please tell me before I tear out my hair x_____x
