OK. So, I had a fax machine, and it loved me so therefore it worked. It was an all-in-one.
Now, I have this other fax machine, an officejet g85 all-in-one, and it despises me to the core!!
I don't get why I can't hook it up to receive faxes!!! Is it cause back then I had no digital telephone service?
Is it cause of my wireless internet? My arris? Or my Linksys? How come it won't work for me?!
With that said, it's most likely my incompetence with fax machines... I don't even know why they exist. It's not even for me, it's for my father.
He's away on business though... and he thought that I, his teenage-technology-savvy-daughter, could handle it.
. . .
Hm. Yeah, well, you guys see how well that's going.
SO, Can ANYONE PLEASEEEE HELP ME.
ALL HELP WOULD BE LOVED. It's like so life and death... T_________________________T

1 your signature is too big im going to change it later
2 You should make sure you have the phone line connected to the correct connector. Heck if you can, get a phone (any phone) and plug that wire into it and listen... it should have a dial tone. A fax line is nothing more than a line dedicated to receiving faxes. Then if you can hear a dial tone, then make sure its connected to the right connector on the back of the unit.
If you don't hear a dial tone then follow that wire to the phone jack... Make sure all that is good. If it is good, its possible that the connector has rusted and stuff so you may need to replace the phone jack (unlikely but possible)
Lastly, make sure the settings on the machine is right, that its on, and the connector looks okay.
Dual line might be an issue.. look into that later (note to self)
