What Do You Think When you see non-asians in asian stores/areas

There's a korean store near my school that I always go to because I want to buy candy and I get the weirdest looks from all the asian people there (I'm black).
And sometimes I could make out certain words and stuff that the shopkeeper and her husband were saying and I used to get the feeling that they were talking about me. They're kind of used to me now though cause they enjoy taking my money. =P
Whenever I'm in chinatown buying manga (it's so cheap there) and stuff I get stared at ALOT. I'm so confused because I'm a normal person haha.
Oh and there's been a few times where I've been with friends and people have insulted me in vietnamese/chinese and my friends tell me after... and I could never understand why people who I've never met in my life say things like that to me.
So what do you guys think when you see non-asians in chinatown / asian stores?
Oh and have you ever made fun of someone in your own language even though they did nothing to you?
I'm sure alot of you will say this is nonsense but it's really more common than you think. =/

I do find it weird when some whites/blacks come to Chinatown where they end up eating western food.
It's really rude to make fun other others even in English.
I would never do that.
You should just ignore these people.

Well.. my mom used to have a store in a mall where she sells things from asia etc.. and there's a lot of non-asisns going in and out of there and I didn't find it strange at all. I also remember couple of months ago my mom and I were shopping at this lao's store and we saw these non-asians and we didn't say anything we just smiled haha. I think it's neat how people that are non-asian like to go visit asian shops.
Oh and have you ever made fun of someone in your own language even though they did nothing to you?
Not really... I would kid around but I wouldn't take it personal or anything. People who speak English would make fun of someone anyways so it never really mattered. Everyone is going to make fun of another person one way or another, but you should just ignore what others say.. that's what I do.

of course it's not weird or anything if they're like, tourists. people in chinatown should be used to anyone going there, there's nothing wrong with that. and anyone can go into a sanrio or whatever, it doesn't matter. but those people must've been staring at you/ saying things because you go there often? the store you're describing kinda sounds like a small korean market to me. yadda yadda....
Oh and have you ever made fun of someone in your own language even though they did nothing to you?
you sound kinda ticked, but those people said things in a language other then english, so you wouldn't get offended, you know? i dunno, but when my mom or dad says things that wouldn't be exactly polite in english to me in viet or filipino it's just out of courtesy to the people around us

I think it's incredibly rude to say it in your own language and then to smile and pretend like those people did.
hahaha yeah I'm still a bit ticked.

but from another person's point of view, they could either be thinking, 'oh that person is trying to be asian. what is she doing here? she doesn't belong in my shop"
or it could be positive like, 'aw she likes asian stuff. i feel kind of happy about that'.
about the cursing, it kind of surprises me. o_o that's so rude. i don't get why they would do that.

I go 'hmmm, interesting' in my head than go back to whatever I am doing.
Oh and have you ever made fun of someone in your own language even though they did nothing to you?
No, never. First of all I can't even speak my own native language fluently to be able to make fun of people without embarrassing myself and second, I don't make of people like aloud because it's rude. I just say it in my head, haha.

I don't see a big deal, unless those that were there were rude. One time I was in Kinokuniya in NYC and alot of the people that were there, that were not Japanese/Asian were very laud, rude, and made not so nice comments (not all of them). So if they get alot of those people...then they might stereotype.
I go to a "Asian mall" in Pleasentville all the time and I have no problem, tho my mom can pass off as Asian, so that might help

Nothing, really. They're just... there.
Oh and have you ever made fun of someone in your own language even though they did nothing to you?

Usually I dont pay it no mind. I've heard of white people that read manga and is into the asian culture. BUT I've never really known a black person to be interested in Asian stuff (I guess I never really thought about it)...So i'd do a double take on you but I wouldnt STARE. I remember though, my boyfriend and I (both asian), saw a friend of ours at this asian store (he's white). I remember saying "Hey! what are you doing here?" (I really thought that that store was the last place i'd see him)...and he jokes, "Are you asking because I'm white? I dont belong here?"
Oh and have you ever made fun of someone in your own language even though they did nothing to you?
Only with my mom, like if someone has CRAAAZY hair or looks SUPER pretty (but that's not really making fun of someone)...my mom usually points out the fat ones (usually the insanely fat ones), she usually says, "oh geeze, how does someone let themselves get that fat?"
Oh like today, my mom, her friends, and I were eating lunch at a restaurant. One of her friends said that the japanese lady sitting near us has a really nice haircut and ALL OF THEM (all 8 of them) turn to look at her...lol (she was right though, it was really cute on her).

I think good on them for being able to go into other races' stores.
Oh and have you ever made fun of someone in your own language even though they did nothing to you?
Never EVER have I made fun of someone in my own language if they did nothing. However I would sometimes comment on stupid little things to my Korean friends whenever we see like a bunch of white kids doing the asian eyes thing by like pulling their eyes apart or saying effin' ching chong chang to us...it gets pretty ridiculous imo

i always think that it's awesome for them to be interested in asian culture. etc.
i totally know how you feel because my mom decided to go into a mexican store once just to look around and stuff. she dragged me along, and EVERYONE was staring. the lady behind the deli counter couldn't understand english, and it was just super embarrassing.
oh, and once, my friend and i went to this viet place to get our eyebrows waxed. and the ladies started talking about us right there in vietnamese....good thing my friend was viet so she understood and told them off.
Oh and have you ever made fun of someone in your own language even though they did nothing to you?
oh heckkk no techno. it's just not something i'd do. i mean, people ask me how to say certain words [[usually cuss words -__-]] in chinese, but i don't make fun of people. that's just mean.

Depends. If it's just a regular person I won't think anything... but if it's one of those new agey people,
or one of those asian wannabe's I usually
Oh and have you ever made fun of someone in your own language even though they did nothing to you?
No. But I made fun of them in english.

I don't find it weird or anything. I usually don't mind. I mean, it's not like they're doing a bad thing.
Oh and have you ever made fun of someone in your own language even though they did nothing to you?
Not really. They didn't even do anything to me or even know me at all. That's just rude.
