TOKIO's Masahiro Matsuoka will star in a new NTV drama series called "Yasuko to Kenji." It is based on a comical manga by artist Aruko that was serialized in Bessatsu Margaret between April 2005 and November 2006.
The show focuses on a man named Kenji and his younger sister Yasuko, whose parents died in an accident 10 years earlier. Kenji was once the leader of a gang, but in order to support him and his sister, he began making a living as a shojo mangaka. His character normally wears glasses and appears to be a gentle guy, but he throws off his glasses and reverts to his violent side whenever he tries to protect Yasuko from danger. Part of the story follows Yasuko's romance with an intelligent and good-looking man named Jun Tsubaki. Jun's older sister Erika now runs a flower shop, but Erika was once a leader of a female gang, and she used to be in love with Kenji during those days. --Tokyograph

ooh, I love this. first few episodes I was like: hmm, over-acting facial expressions, a little on the shallow side for a plot.

but! it was sooo enjoyable I just have to watch every single episode. it was worth. it's literally a manga/anime coming to life. I especially look forward to Kenji and Erika's scenes. rofl.

not so much romance; but I highly recommend it for entertainment and stress-reliever.

lol yeah I'm so surprised that there hasn't been as much talk about this~ especially when the rating average was higher than some of the popular ones online like code blue seigi no mikata~

it's like under the radar or something.. :/

~I'd definitely recommend this, not too much suspense to give you a heart attack and not corny... just enough to be enjoyable and prepare for unexpected tears at the end... it just hits you! hehe

Oh wow. Not much activity here. But yeah, this is a great drama! I haven't finished it yet, though.

I really like the characters in this drama. Especially Hirosue Ryoko's Erika. You don't get to see a sassy character out of her very often, and it's quite refreshing. And of course, Mabo & Tacchon rocks too. smile.gif

this drama is really funny and I'm still watching it.. I'm not even half way through the drama yet but I really like Hirosue Ryoko's character. It's true what cybercaptain said. You don't get to see this kind of character from her very often..

IMHO, the drama is funny. However, the episodes seem extremely repetitive. The Oki and Yasuko have a disagreement, Oki and Erika glare at each other, and a gang fight tops off the entire thing. Perhaps this is a result of adapting manga to live action, but I've stopped after episode 6. Is it more "meaty" after that?

as repetitive as it is, i really enjoyed this drama (:!

remember that scene, when they are at the dinner table,

yasuko tells kenji she wants to go to that school (to learn english)

she rages and then goes to her room,

kenji flips and abuses his two 'subordinates'

he flips the table.

you can sooo tell that they were about to crack up laughing xD

It's a staple of each episode. But then again, the subordinates do progress by catching on to the table and holding it down. After a while.

The gang fight actually stops at Ep7, you'll be surprised at how this dorama actually gets better compared to, erm, the lameness of Code Blue!

In that case, I might actually finish it. It's very light-hearted. Is Code Blue really that bad, compared to this?
