Do your grade 9 + 10 grades really matter that much? Eek.. If they do.. I'm really screwed XD

Hahaha.. Anyway.. I was just wondering, how many years of high school gets calculated into the whole GPA score? 'Cause right now my grades are all 90%+, but in grade 9 and 10 my grades weren't all that great.

You don't really have to worry about one set grade that sums up all 4 high school years, instead the colleges will look at the GPA of each semester or year. Although the stress is put on grades 11 and 12, colleges can also look at 9 and 10, which they usually do in order to look for trends (is the student improving from when he began? gradually failing?). If your grades in 9 and 10 weren't great, you can still play it to your advantage. Say you were depressed about something happening (family member dying etc.) but you eventually picked yourself up and now have very good grades. Anyways good luck!
PS. Want to go for a ride in my boot, eh?

But yeah.. there are also 2 other grades that are.. uhh.. pretty bad =/ So, as long as you improve then it should be "ok" right? Like.. I had a low 80 average in grade 9, but I improved about 5% every year haha.

Yes, 9-12 grade GPA grades are ALL calculated and averaged in. Have you taken any Honors/APs? Taking Honors bumps up your grade like .5, and APs bump up your grade 1. I'm assuming you know that because you're senior? junior? So I'll shut up =XX
I don't go for lying about your grades...Once caught lying, you're kicked out of the school immediately. Follows you around and probably won't get accepted into another school. Well, I guess it's more of lying if you got suspended/etc, but yeah =X I don't recommend it.
Hm, are your grades from 9 and 10th grade going to affect you a lot? Because universities look more on the unweighted/weighted GPA for your overall high school than semester/year.

Oh, well, that Chinese grade explanation will probably make up for it. 30%?? That's brutal. Sheesh, a whole year's hard work gone down with one test T__t;;

The Canadian "equivalent" to honors/AP courses would be any "advanced" or the harder-to-get-into classes, or IB classes, if you took those.
Ohh okay, I see. I'm in this regional program so maybe that counts~ XD.
Thanks for the info everybody.

No. All colleges look at all of the grades combined together unless they specifically state so. Like UCB, it's all 4 years for example. They consider every year.

I think if you really want to go to an American university, but have really bad grades you should go to an easier one, work hard, and transfer the next year/semester to go to a better one.
Well I have a 90%+ right now, so.. I dunno. I'll see XD Again, thanks everyone for the help.
