Bird's nest soup is a delicacy in Chinese cuisine. A few species of swift, the cave swifts, are renowned for building the saliva nests used to produce the unique texture of this soup.

The edible bird's nests are among the most expensive animal products consumed by humans. The nests have been traditionally used in Chinese cooking for over 400 years, most often as bird's nest soup

Yummy!! I love this soup! It has been a long time since i actually ate it because it's such an expensive soup.

so ... the nests are made of saliva? it's like you're eating bird spit then? never tried it .. if it's expensive i probably won't ever get to try it but it's no skin off my back. lol.

I have heard about this soup but, I am pretty sure I have never tried it. I don't like jelly too much though, so I don't think I would like the texture in my mouth.

this soup is soo yummy..my mom makes it like at least once a month and like i have siblings too...but they're not allowed to touch it..so the whole like marble pot thing is mine..(the azn pots that u use to boil these stuff) this usually lasts me the whole week cause my mom said ur not suppose to have a lot at once..like a cup every day..(but i do it every few days casue i either forget to drink it or too lazy to pour it in a cup). It true that its good for your complexion and maybe your health?? casue my mom just makes it casue she heard that its good. My acne skin got soo much better after drinking this for like a month along with something else.. another type of chinese medicine. (which is also expensive) It is expensive but people still by it..actually all these azn medicine/herb things are expensive too...i rmembered my mom bought like $1000 worth of bird's nest..and she bought the most expensive ones too casue she didn't wanna waste time looking for feathers in the water..

i dun like the sweet bird nest soup. however, the savory soup is really yummy. I remember eating those served in golden bowl at an upscale restaurant. It tasted kinda like noodles o__o.

Yeah I generally have it. I don't like it but my mom forces me to have it by saying:

"I spent $1000-$2000 on this!"

2-3 times a day??? wow! my mom only makes it about once every few months since it costs about $600 for a small batch. my mom adds sugar in it but i prefer mine plain with pieces of chicken.

I love it. Never consumed it as a child, but recently this summer my mom has been purchasing a lot and making it.
