Ipod Error Message

Everytime I plug in my iPod and open up iTunes, it always gives me this message saying:
The iPod [insert name of iPod] cannot be synched. An unknown error has occured (-48)

It wipes out everything my iPod and I don't know what's going on. Any help?

Since its all gone, consider doing a restore to wipe everything to factory settings.
