Every holiday in America is commercialized. It's all about marketing.
Im Buddhist, and obviously we don't 'celebrate' Christmas as a 'religion'. But, we do celebrate it as a Holiday; get together, cook, give presents etc.

Just like me.
I don't see Christmas as a religious holiday, as Christians would...
But it is fun to get presents tongue.gif

No offense those of you who say it's not all about the presents.

I'm an atheist so I take Christmas as my excuse of going on a holiday. The companies are promoting Christmas products earlier and earlier every year, it's not their fault cuz' Christmas IS a perfect time on making profits.

Depending on how someone observes Christmas it can be as religious or secular as he or she wants it.

For some people Christmas is a time to buy presents and drink eggnog, but for some it's still the day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. And for many it's both.

it is.
apparently the candy cane is supposed to represent a shepherds staff
and upside down, it looks like a J which means Jesus,
and santa clause is supposed to represent God giving us
gifts [Jesus]..but omg, the real meaning of candy canes/santa
clause is like...forgotten.
but why is it only christmas and christian holidays that are commercialized..
u dont see people buy gifts and toys for kids
in buddah's bday..even tho its a public holiday.

I'm sorry,i don't live in the US and i hadn't gone there yet,so i don't know the feeling of every holidays. Here in Mauritius it's not the same i think, not every holidays are commercialised and i that day is not a holiday for me because my dad has a shop,so i helped him,it's like normal routine. It's now in Mauritius that it is starting to be very commercialised. Most importantly,i'm Christian..
People do celebrate it yeah but as i see it,in the US,everyone do celebrate or give gifts.
