I've noticed that there are quite a few Australian soompiers. happy.gif

I've wanted to try Vegimite for the longest time, but everyone I know who's eaten it has had negative commentary. Apparently, it's an acquired taste. sad.gif

So...what does Vegimite taste like? Is it good?

I might just hop on a plane one day just to go to Australia and try it for myself. smile.gif

Yum, Yum.

I know a classmate of mine, who recently came from Australia, who adores
vegimite...or at least I think he does. He brought some to class and gave it to
the teacher to sample. He said that it somewhat has a soy sauce flavor to it
only saltier. He puts it on crackers, breads, etc. Basically he uses it as a spread.

^ he uses it as a spread, because thats what vegemite is.

im not a fan of it myself, but i like vegemite&butter on cruskits/crispbread as a snack sometimes.

Other than saltiness, it's also slightly bitter and...something else. It really is something you have to try once as I can't really describe the taste lol.

I used to eat it with crackers and butter all the time as a kid but haven't had it in ages since.

It's like eating salt with the consistency of peanut butter.
...
It's alright with orange juice. LOL.
I don't know why people invented it though. x_x; It's nasty stuff.

Eating it on bread with cheese or with butter should make it taste a little more palatable ...
- never under any circumstance should you take on an offer of eating a tablespoon by itself
you will die.. lol.

It's just got this taste. I reckon' Marmite and Vegemite tastes the same.
It's like this beer kind of taste, kind of salt and yeasty... tastes a bit like onions if you think hard enough of what it could be. huh.gif Personally I don't hate Marmite or Vegemite... it's just... well, don't put so much on one toast. XD I put on a little bit, I found out the hard way by putting some generously on toast... I gagged it out. Haha.

I've tried in class when one of my Australian class mate brought in a little tiny package (which is enough for a slice of toast) You're not suppose to be a whole lot on it like you would do with peanut butter. Like one scoop with the butter knife is enough.

She passed out one package, and we all tried it.
It's really thick, it smells and taste like super salty soy sauce. haha
Well, for me.
I actually liked it 0.0
I want to try it again though, to make sure it actually tasted like soy sauce. lol
