Have you ever stood up for yourself? Did it ever work out and did you get your situations straight or did it cause more problems? Tell me your story.

I've been thinking about it myself whether I should waste my time doing it. In my situation, there's this little freshman brat who keeps muttering "ching chong" and other racist stuff around and then run off. What a freaking coward, I don't even know him. It really pisses me off.

To keep it short, I'm the ONLY Asian at my school. That's right, 0.1% of the population! Everybody else is either African American, Hispanic, or OTHER. Even so, my school are mostly filled with considerate people and they don't dare to be racist around me because we're all friends. I'm mostly close to the seniors, juniors, and sophomores so it makes sense if that kid don't really know who I am. (I'm a senior btw) So pretty much, I'm that Asian token buddy.... with lots of backup, of course.

That little freshman brat is the only kid who's been giving me problems right now. Should I call him out and lecture him or should I just let it go? It makes me angry just to think about it. I don't appreciate being name-called or being laughed at. I've had similar situations like this before and it really bothers me when I just walk away and try to ignore it because that single comment can irritate me for the whole day. Man, I have some hardcore friends who offered to kick his butt for me though. tongue.gif

How about you? When was the last time that you stood up for yourself?
I hope this is in the right section.

There was this one time, me and a group of friends went out to lunch. There were a couple of kids sitting across from us, they kept looking at us and giggling amongst themselves.(i think they were racist :S) i got really frustrated and eventually i walked up to them with my drink [i was planing to pour it on their heads or on their food] but instead i questioned them and asked what was so amusing about us. They were like, "no, nothings funny" so i was like "then stfu or i'll shut you up myself" then they were quiet after that.

In your situation, that kid just sounds like a brat, u should fly kick him, or get your friends to. =D
You gotta let him know what being senior is all about lol tongue.gif

If he choose not to,
I will probably ignore him afterwards
Cuz..
Nothing can be done to shut a jerk ass mouth?

By not doing anything you are teaching him that it's OK to be a bigot.
I bet you that he learned it from his parents, and thinks it's all fun and games.

I wouldn't be completely rude to him, because the point probably wouldn't be taken well.
If you attack him, he'll probably walk away thinking, asians are so uptight! It may stop him from saying ignorant things, but he'll still be thinking it and talking smack behind your back even more.

If you have the opportunity, I would tell him that you don't appreciate it because it's an offensive racist remark.
Warn him that you'll be talking to the school if it continues. Be cool and calm about it. He's most likely to understand the point better.

I'd definitely stand up for myself in that situation. You know what? I'd do those clicking sounds that African Americans do right back at him and see how he feels (nothing against african americans).

For me, this one time I stood up to a MORMON of all people (nothing against mormons) because he was trying to convert me, I didn't give in, and then he called my religion BS.

Then I freaking busted out evolution on his A-hole and he ran off like a little wuss. He dared to argue with a college student majoring in Biological Sciences.... big mistake.

You should stand up for yourself when you are caught in any situation where others are insulting you for who you are.
So what if you are the only Asian in the school? That does not give him the right to treat you like nothing because you stand out from the crowd.
If you let him get away with it, he is only going to take the advantage to insult you even more since he thinks you are scared of approaching him.

I could have gone through similar situations like you, which is why my parents moved when I was still a kid.
My sibling and I were the only Asians throughout the entire town and even though there were one or two Asians before, they moved away.
I came from a town where everyone was Caucasian (mostly Jewish) and the older ones were extremely racist towards us (didn't witness it much since I was young).

Stand up for yourself and let him know how it feels like to be picked on =P

i went through a lot of this throughout middle school and even walking around my neighborhood. i went to middleschool where there weren't many asians they were all hispanics. i stood up for myself to say the least. i'd throw back racial slurs and have them running for their lives. no joke. you should've seen the looks on their faces. haha. i don't do it anymore though since kids passing by me don't throw insults my way. maybe it's cause i'm older now but if they do they had better not be fat and they better pray they're faster than me.
Some say i'm a genius, others say i'm crazy
but they all say i'm a little on the weird side

Ohhh definitely YES!!! dont let people make you feel like a downer. If you dont stand up for yourself, you will look like a good target to hit everytime. Stand up for yourself.show them what you're made of!! when I was in 6th gradethis black girl used to make fun of me...alot! me and this other girl were the only asians there but anyways...she kept calling me names but in return I would stand up for myself. She saw that she can never bully me or push me around so she stopped and moved to the other girl. It was pretty cool. biggrin.gif

see here's the beauty of being a senior....you kick freshie ass. so do it.

stalk him until you know the routine...catch him when he's alone and beat the mini cooper out of him. it helps if all the school officials know you're a good kid.

if you don't wanna get your hands dirty....bring it up that there's this little racist freshman snot who's starting to piss you off with the mini cooper h says....even if some of these things are made up. sooner or later, high school life will become very very hard for him.

personally i go with the kicking his ass.

OMG. i feel your pain.
my school is exactly like that. well last year there were only 4 asians in my WHOLE school. FOUR!
but this year. likes quite a few. maybe less than 10? i was shocked
but anyway. there are alot of hispanics, and africans and very very few others, such as asians, white and muslisms and others.
There were many times where little kids younger than me. (im a senior too. SENIORS 09!! whooo. anyway...) my school is also a middle school. and these little kids would like be very racist to me last year especially. like. calling me chinese which im not. and saying chink, ching chong blahblahblah. and so on.
if i can, without getting into trouble, suspended or expelled, i would beat the hell out of these brats.
but what can you do? nothing really.
but like.. you should be like "whats your problem? do you even know me?"
but if you dont say anything that kids gonna bother you until he gets bored.
i didnt do i anything. and they stopped last year. smile.gif
blahblahblah

I've been in a sitution similar to this before, at my school the majority is black, white, and hispanics but we have a pretty good amount of asian people, and we're all friends with each other. i was a senior wen it happened to me

So one day my best friend (who is also asian) and i were going to our Drafting class, and as we were walking she told me a joke and made me laugh. and when i laugh my eyes looks like their close since i have really small eyes. And so as i was walking and laughing, some black freshmen kid stood on the side of the hall and yelled out to me "HEY!! OPEN UR EYES!" it took me a sec to realize that he was talking to me, so i stood frozen for a sec then turned around and made my way towards and yell at him "HEY! YOU GOT SOMETHING TO SAY TO ME, SAY IT TO MY FACE!" once he saw me coming towards him he ran into the classroom, before i even got to him, my best friend pulled me back because i was about to go up to him to punch him or some but she kept saying to me "it ain't worth it, just let it go." because at our school if you fight, ur expelled, so me being a girl it makes it even worse. but then someone else said something while i was being pulled back by my friend they were saying "DANG! look at that crazy asian chick." i turned out again and got out of my friends grasp and yelled "WHAT SAY THAT AGAIN!!!" but this time, my friend literally dragged me by my bookbag and pulled me into the classroom. i was soo mad, but after that day no one dared say anything else racial bout me or my friends

oh yea just to tell u all, i'm only 5'0 and so i'm really short, try seeing a short chick try and beat someone up, hehe jkjk

What clicking sounds do African Americans make? rolleyes.gif You mean Africans.

Anyway...

I was walking down the hall of my high school one day and these two white kids were having a convo about how some dude stole his girl ( I don't talk a lot so I usually pick up many conversations, plus we were the only people in the hallway) So they hadn't noticed me because I was walking pretty far ahead but as "we" neared the turn of the hall one boy says pretty loud "Man I hate sunshines" ( supposedly the dude that "stole" his girl lol) .... I turn around and their faces immediately drop and they walk quickly in front of me, and I completely regret not saying a word. Although I think the boys knew what had been said was wrong cause they totally ran away and it not like I'm some crazy buff dude I'm just your average girl.

So, I think you should say something don't let that little brat get away with it. If you have a friend that is of the same race as the kid that is pestering you ask them to confront the kid with you so the brat will feel extra DUMB. smile.gif

If you don't stand up for yourself, they will continue to make up of you, and if you do stand up for yourself, you will get into trouble for fighting. Either way, you'll lose. But ya know what... in my opinion... at least you get the satisfaction of kicking their ugly ass.

I've fought around 2 times with people in my school? One was with this guy, and the other was with this chick. Anyways... the guy just kept pulling him eye and goes "Ching chong chong chong" and crap like that, so I finally got pissed off and sock him in his face. He didn't hit me back though, just went "stupid pinkberry" and then walked off. He did try to get his female friends to jump me the next day, but I asked them how would they feel if someone just kept making fun of them like that, and they understood and apologized on his behalf. So yeah... I was pretty popular in school so not many people make fun of me "that much". And if they did, most of my guy friends would threaten to kick their ass, so they would leave me alone anyways.

Anyways, violence don't solve the problem, but sometimes... it does make them stfu, lol. Every since I hit that guy, he doesn't have the gut to talk mini cooper to me anymore, because now he knows that I don't take that crap.

But then, sometimes, it makes things worst. I've seen countless of fight blowing out of proportion, which result in guns and knife. So ya know what... at the end of the day, safety first. They can make fun of you now, but once they grow up, and you see them working at MCdonald, you're going to get the last laugh. The guy who made fun of me is working at KFC now, so everytime I come in there and eat, it just makes me want to point at him and laugh. But nah.

HAHAHAH best one yet.

This one night I was out to eat with a group of my friends. In our group, we have one tall white guy among all of us Asians so he really sticks out. But he doesn't care lol. Anywho, When we walked in, we were seated next to a whole bunch of high schoolers from another city who were all white and had one Asian guy with them. Once we sat down, somebody was like HEY WE HAVE AN ASIAN TOO. I turned back and I'm like ARE YOU FOREAL?! I GOT ME A WHITE BUDDY HERE AS WELL! Like seriously, was that necessary? Ugh.
