I think just a few a years ago I developed jaw locking and then teeth grinding atn ight. I am unable to open my mouth unless I "unlock" my jaw and there is always a clicking sound when I do it. I checked on the internet and its called a TMJ disorder. I also went to a specialist and they said this is also probably what caused my teeth grinding (which I got a mouthguard for). I haven't actually gotten treatment for it because it doesn't hurt that bad but I am just worried if it will progress. Just wondering if anyone else has these syptoms and what they did about it. Btw, can teeth grinding and jaw locking cause your jaw to get bigger?

I had this problem but gradually as I got older it went away. Once in awhile my jaw will pop and hurt but no longer as bad as it once was.

That use to be a problem I dealt with but, eventually it stopping when I got older fortunately. I still grind my teeth at night sometimes but, my jaw doesn't lock anymore.

As far as I know, my dad's the only person in my family that grinds his teeth while he sleeps.

My jaw started locking after I landed on it while riding my bike 10 years ago. The only difference between myself and others is that I can still open my mouth wide and I know where to stop before it clicks.

I grind my teeth at night. It's not like, at all hours but I still do it sometime in the night. I don't even really know about it, but if we have sleep overs or something then people find out and it's embarrassing... Kind of becoming a complex... I tried using mouth guards but I'd wake up in the morning and my gums would be bleeding -.- I should probably see a dentist about it, but when I get check-ups they say my teeth are fine.

My friend has TMJ and it's pretty bad. Like it was so bad she couldn't eat food sad.gif She still has it, since there's no cure for it, and sometimes her face gets all swollen... She says it even hurts her ears at times.

I have TMJ "/ Got it in 7th grade. For a really stupid reason too. Never ever open your mouth really widely for fun for a long period of time. I heard that you can't really fix it right? And people who did surgery on it said it hurt worse than before? I don't know; I remember reading something like that somewhere like 3 years after I realized I couldn't open my jaw widely. >_>

my dad has this too

and i read an article about it like a week ago about this too

so apparently, this is caused mainly by stress
and there's treatment but the cure of it isn't really guaranteed
and long-term effect of this is that yoru teeth will start shaking/get displaced, and you'll wax and wane the tops of your teeth off
of course there's the immediate effect of head ache, etc

the treatment for it is that they make a casing, kind of like those clear braces thing, for you to wear on your teeth at night so even if you grind yoru teeth, you won't be at least waxing them off
i think the price is around 300$ for the casing

yea that's abotu all i rememebr from that article hope it helped
