So I'm in a desperate need of a cellphone and I have two friends who are recommending me two types of phone;

1 is the gorgeous iphone that really makes me wanna get it but the other is the G1 Google Phone that is not out yet but has already been number one on several people's list...

Could someone who knows enough information about both phones recommend me what to get? The pros and cons and etc. It would be of great help.

Thanks guys ;D

what are your needs? I would wait until the G1 is out before I make a judgment, like how can it be #1 when most of those people haven't even messed with one for an extended period?

I can't really say much about the G1 since I haven't seen it for real. I have an iPhone 3G and it's nice but the 3G is practically worthless for me because there's no 3G reception around here. I like my phone, but I wish the bluetooth on it was more flexible.

A friend of mine is testing the G1, there are a ton of stuff she dislikes but can't fully discuss because of nda. Her recommendation? Hold off until devs get apps out in public because right now, it's pretty bad.

how limited...why not screw what your friends say and look around for something else?

as many phones there are out there and as expensive as they're getting, you really don't want to limit yourself to two phones you might hate equally.

but if i have to limit myself, i'd still pick the ugly and craptastic g1 over the iphone. sorry but a decent cam and mms are requirements. dry.gif

Wow so I've never heard of that one and googled it and I likie ++____++

It looks much better than both G1 and Iphone.

And I only took their suggestion in mind because I was tired of getting a phone with buttons. And wanted to be able to chat in class not only through text but websites and stuff.

Last but not least, I don't really care abut the mms because I don't really use those at all. I'm more of a text or chat person and with boring classes like mines. You'll NEED IT!~

And Samsung Omnia i900 looks much more delicious than iphone... I wonder when it's out and who is going to be the provider. I hope it's not Verizon.. cause I can't sign up with them -.-

The phone is an unlocked GSM phone. Can be used with any carrier that uses SIM cards.

The omnia is going to be out soon to a us provider, but it isn't verizon.

I say iphone, because the internet browsing is great and you can have tons of free apps. The bad thing about it is that the text messaging sucks with the tiny key board they give you. I wish they had the horizontal keypad.

I don't like the look of the google phone so I wouldn't get it.

The omnia is pretty and it has a lot of functions, but its very pricey.

Simplicity is Beautiful

Yes. Just don't try go to Verizon/Sprint/Metro PCS and ask if you activate the phone and you should be good

^ verizon and sprint don't use sim cards. dry.gif

US gsm carriers are at&t and T-mobile.

anyway @小甜密...the omnia is a kick ass phone...love mine. it's a bit overkill for anyone who just wants a regular phone and probably a bit expensive to the same crowd but whatever. i carry my life on my phone so its perfect.

it also sits nice in my hands...i have kid sized hands so it's nice to have a large screen and be able to work with it too.

i have a couple of friends that bought the G1 and they said you can scan barcodes to find cheaper prices and it'll automatically silence your phone when you enter a movie theater. also, the compass feature (street view) is amazing on the phone.

Like I said, unlocked, can use any carrier that uses SIM cards. Most people don't know that you can't use these types of phones on the CDMA providers
