*Delete if yaddayadda lol*

Mannn.. I'm having roommate issues.
We're just really different from each other.

What's your roommate like?

I didn't get to choose who it was because I went out of state and didn't know anyone.
Sigh. sweatingbullets.gif

I never had a roommate -- I had singles both years and I never lived in dorms either, I always got apartments. I guess I'm pretty lucky.

But I've still had issues with apartmentmates over little things like not picking up hair after showers (she would just "forget" and not pick them up which is super disgusting), theft, and using other people's items without permission. I thought these things were common sense, but apparently not sleep.gif

My best advice is that if you have issues with your roommate, you should talk it out and not keep it inside you until you explode.

my room mate is our land lady and it sucks... she always tried to start a conversation when i study XD and that's not good at all...

and she and her daughter always have fights in the room and usually, i turn up at the most unexpected times...

one time i entered the room coz i had to get a book, they both looked at me like they wanted to kill me XD

I don't live on campus and never had a roomate. But my siblings tell me I'm a slob so I probably did someone a favor by not living on campus.

My roommates are all awesome xD There are 10 of us on our floor (10 study-bedrooms and a shared kitchen/dining room area] and we all get on well, go out for "family" dinners and stuff laugh.gif Many people have said that they don't really like theirs, or never see them, though. I think I'm lucky xD

I was looking to live alone first but soon realized that in the city I moved to it would cost more than expected. I asked this guy I met few months before to be my roommate but was a bit afraid of how it would end up. He's japanese and I'm Caucasian (chinese washed (yeah thats what happens when you grow up in canada in a school full of asians lol)) rolleyes.gif

Now it's just so awesome! We are becoming way better friends and it seems that we are the same on so many things. Same level of cleanliness (meaning we are both cleans), same attitude regarding how the place should look like, or about people sleeping over etc.

I like one of my roommates besides when she is drunk xD She's awesome and understanding and accepting of others. She is probably one of my better friends and well there are 2 others that kind of random stay o_o.. So I thought I would include them as well. I don't get along with them to well they take things without asking and use things.. I'm not a very social / party type either and the other three roommates are social but one of them is just awesome xD.

weird. she doesn't shower often, never really does her laundry, definitely not the same level of cleanliness as me, and goes to sleep at least an hour after I do. but she doesn't bother me or play really loud music/etc, so I can somewhat tolerate it. We pretty much get along, and we share the fridge, microwave, and some other things, but I don't think I'm rooming with her next year (or semester if I can get out if this).
iono what happened with the housing forms we sent in, b/c the two of us don't match at all.(especially in cleanliness D:)

I didn't choose my roommate either. I only have two other friends from high school who applied to the same school as I did, but they aren't living in a dorm.

I have absolutely no problem with my roommate. BUT we don't talk at all! We greet each other sometimes and that's it. I know I'm a quieter person than she is and I do utter some words a few times, but it never continues onto being a conversation. I can tell that she's a more outgoing person yet she doesn't initiate a conversation either. So, we're basically sharing a room and doing our own things. We don't eat together because she hates the food in the dining center/cafeteria and we don't share any classes together. There are pros and cons to this, but sometimes I just wish someone would talk to me more... It seems like we really don't have anything to say to each other and I think this will continue on until the end of the school year.
Oh, we don't even play music out loud. Well, sometimes she plays music softly and she does leave her TV on.. I listen to music through earphones and I think she does too sometimes.

Ho Boy.
mY roomate XDDDDDDDDD

lets see. we're on a 'womens first year experience' which is an all girls floor (the only all girls floor) on the entire campus

and I was on the waitlist when I finally got the room - i.e. we met the first day we both moved in. and even then you could tell a huge. huge. difference

I brought the bare minimum = hell, I dont watch TV, I dont need an extraordinary amount of stuff, but the bed is damned cozy when it wants to be.

she brought everything and then some. =3

In general we're both outgoing people, except she's reallly...girly and sorta backstabbish'y. We had some drama earlier that caused the entire floor to be really stressed out, but now we are a lot better. We dont have conversations per say, but its just a lot easier to be near each others presence without feeling animosity.

hmmm me and my roommate are ok. we're not like super close or like hateful towards each other. we just kinda acknowledge each other's presence.

the thing is i'm never there on weekends cause i go party and never go back to my room. and on weekdays our schedules are pretty different... i have mostly morning classes and he has mostly afternoon classes so we never really see each other much. At night we do our own thing. the good thing about our room is that its a SPLIT double... its shaped like a T

uhhh sometimes he makes weird sounds hahaha but we dont really have a problem with each other. uhhhhh i dont think i've ever seen him once head to the showers....... BUT i think he showers at weird times like 3pm. afternoon or something lol. but i def never seen him brush his teeth at night haha.

we're physically opposites too... like he's a big tall guy and im like a small lean guy so its kinda funny when u see us together lol. uhhhhh we have different taste in things i guess... uhhh music and stufff buttttt the thing that we have in common is obsession with DARK KNIGHT lol.

he's from seattle and i'm from the nyc so we have different views on fun etc and stuff. I brought half my life into the room but he has a pretty empty room... he doesnt even had bedsheets? LOL.

i enjoy our roommate relationship... its like not we have to make an effort to be friends... we're just roommates ya know. nothing like we must do everything together..

ohhhh i think he's also christian. kinda religious? but im glad religion never comes up cause im pretty like bad with dealing with hardcore christians... since im from nyc and is super liberal.

my roommates are tolerable but sometimes are just ...argh..

one of them is okay, she often stays in her room. But she needs to conserve toilet paper rather than jamming a bunch in the toilet in one go. Which resulted with a plugged toilet...TWICE.

the other roommate [which the apartment is under his name/living there for 3 years now]: Never cleans his apartment... and NEVER washes his dishes. He makes a huge pile of them and leave them in the sink for months. [since august] And it is still there!!! My boyfriend and i have to move his dirty dishes around just to use the kitchen sink.

didn't get to choose my roommates.
I have two. We live in a one bedroom dorm/apt. with one bathroom. O___o
HOW AM I SURVIVING? lol.

anyway, we get along ok.
There are some things about them that annoys me, but
it's manageable. We sleep at the same time--most times

One will help me take out the trash, while the other has only taken out the trash TWICE.
I've been in school for two months. It's ridiculous. >____<

I'm a very light sleeper. So, even if you're talking in the other room,
I sure can hear you! I could stay up a good two hours or so because
my roommate is talking.

I think we would get along fine if we had our own bedrooms... lol

Blond and perky. She gives me the same feeling I get when I wake up and a ray of harsh morning sunlight shoots through my eyes, leaving me blinded and helpless like a stunned mole.

The shower, the shower, the shower...cannot stress how much of an issue it can be/become.

My roommate has a gf, she took showers at start of semester in our shower, and surprise surprise, hair EVERYWHERE, drain clogged every single time, looked like 50 prisoners had just taken a shower in a jail or something after she was done every single time.

Now before this I had some general faith in the human race, especially among girls, that there were certain levels of hygiene that were suppose to be so common-sense that it couldn't possibly be an issue, yet as I had feared, humanity failed, and failed miserably might I add, when it came to this girl and my roommates views on cleanliness.

So in the end I asked if his gf could stop, yes stop, taking showers at our place, and wham, problem fixed, no more dirty shower.
I actually think the guy was embarrassed, because this was bad, like holy that's sick type of bad, and he must have realized that early on, yet I don't think it ever dawned on either of them that mom wasn't going to magically appear and make it all go away one day, like at home...

But yea, there are a lot of people who aren't used to having to clean up after themselves, and just hope that one day it will just disappear and they can move on, but it doesn't work that way in the real world.

My other roommate stacks his trash up against the wall, then he complains when his room starts smelling like garbage, and he then finally takes it out to the dumpster, then, he immediately proceeds to do it all over again...

Honestly, if you can manage to keep your things seperate, and just say hey, don't use my stuff, period, that actually works, because then it then dawns on the heathens that, oh my god, I might actually have to take care/clean my stuff, wow this sucks, and once that hits them, they tend to get better about things.

^Yeah. Our apartment had two rules: keep the common areas clean, and clean up your hair after you shower. One girl always "forgot" to do that and it built up until I got so mad that I posted a sticky with her name on it on her door. After that, she didn't forget.

wow there are a lot of roommate threads..

i live w/ 2 other girls..it sucks sometimes bc our room, although a triple, is still the same size as a double. one of the girls is my friend from highschool.and i've known her since elementary school, although not close. our other roommate is from a city about an hour from my school.

we all basically get along but i find it...i dk..stifling sometimes...my roommate who ive known for years is a clean freak...and my other roommate is basically the opposite..while im in the middle...i like my area clean but i wont go and clean up others' desks..yet those two seem to be pretty close...and sometimes i feel like im being left out..i dk...thats what i was super worried about..thinking about college...and yeahs it feels weird feeling left out sometimes...but we all talk and share things so i feel like my relationship with my roommates is pretty good compared to some of my friends and their rooommates..i was actually told by my other roommate (the one from this area) a few days ago that i annoy her sometimes but at the end of the day she likes me....and i dk...that really hurt me...
