My mom bought me a protein shake from GNC called "Mass XXX" (Chocolate/Vanilla) but i'm a bit afraid to drink it because I might get too big/bulky from drinking this consistently after working out. My goal is to tone my muscles (I'm 16, thin, small built) not to get huge like a football linebacker. My mom might've bought me the wrong shake but she bought it for 50 dollars which is expensive so I guess have to stick with it. But i'm hesitating too much to drink it. Since it's all about "MASS" not "Lean or Toned Muscles'". That is what I'm worried about. Is it still ok for me to take this supplement? =|

at GNC you can always return the supplement or switch if you're not satisfied
even if you've used it within 30 days. So take it back and get a whey isolate.

You should state the nutritional info on the back ~

Calories per serving :
Protein per serving :
Carbohydrates per serving :

If you are exercising consistently and lift weights then drinking a protein shake after your exercise for PWO. Post Workout meal is not going to be the reason why you get fat ~

Look at : pizza, hamburgers, excess rice, noodles, pasta, breads, lots of sugary things like soda etc That is why ~ or it can be because you kill your metabolism by starving and eating 1-2 meals a day ~ Your concerns are unwarranted I'd look at your other 4-5 meals in the day for what is going wrong. Especially if you aren't eating a good big breakfast every morning, or drinking enough water ~ at least 1-2 glasses of water per meal, upon waking, before bed.

But GNC is a ripoff ~

T-Nation site gives free shipping, the bb.com site gives out free items if you go over different prices. If you want to save your mom money I would go with Grow Whey! for 32.99 its the cheapest and best - "plain" whey, shake swallow - continue on with your life. I add other protein with mocha flavor or chocolate if I need taste - or crystalite.
keep in mind : PWO meal include simple carbohydrates - a bowl of rice, gatorade/powerade, something similar Unless you note on your MASS whatever it is that it gives you simple carbs. There is a line of protein powders that come with carbs but they are complex carbs meant for anytime OTHER then PWO.

Other trusted companies : BSN ON 100% (Optimum Nutrition) -- muscletech is good but overpriced, there are lots of good companies.

Protein powder doesn't make you big...the way you work out does. All protein powder does is help your muscles recover faster so you can work out MORE. The way you get lean is to do light weights and high reps
