Protein Powder is it ok for you

Hi, so i've been using protein powder for about 2 or 3 months now after my workout and i've talked with a couple people and their pretty skeptical about it. Some guy who worked at Sears asked me a few question about how I workout and I told him I used protein powder, he said his friend used it too and it screwed him up somehow (I think it was his liver?). I only use about 1 1/2-2 scoops after my workout with water once a day, but i just wanted to hear if anyone knew if it was actually ok for you. I mean its just protein right? I can see if you take it like 5+ times a day your liver will have a hard time filtering it all out but im assuming once a day with 2scoops (30g of protein per scoop) is ok.

lol typical myths. If you don't have previous liver problems
and properly hydrate yourself it should be fine to use.
TONS and TONS of athletes use it.
Btw just curious how did the convo go?

Coworker: "how do you workout?"
You: "I use whey protein!"
Coworker: "OMG LIVER PROBLEMS! WHEY PROTEIN IS THE DEVIL!"

rofl nono, I was actually asking if they had any weights (need to buy heavier ones) to sell since everywhere is like 40 dollars+ for one and he asked what I needed them for and I told him I'm doing round 2 of p90x and he started asking like about the nutrition guide and stuff. I think the convo was like

guy : "so are you sticking to the nutrition guide they gave you?"
me: "kinda, i eat more protein since i want to get bigger so i use protein shakes after my workout"
guy : "oh, i heard those things are bad for you, my friend is like 6"4 and 150 pds (yes he said 150pds and 6"4) and it really screwed him up"

something to that extent tongue.gif

Yea man seriously there isn't anything to worry about unless you have previous
health issues. Just don't be a moron and drink it like 5 times a day. 1-2 a day is fine.
Stay hydrated. 6'4 and 150 is like annorexic lol.

You could drink it 5 times a day and be fine, though you'd have to make sure to get some healthy fats, fiber supplement, and hydrate.

Your friend is the last person you should listen to 6'4 and how heavy? omg... he doesn't know anything ~

Real food is best, protein shakes are fine.. and you can buy whey 5lbs cheap from 32-40 dollars ~

* Biotest, Optimum, BSN are all good companies : though I know there are some good canadian companies as well ~
