I'm currently looking for a new mp3 player.
I thought of Samsung YP-P2, a mp3 player similar to the iPod touch.
I'd like to have suggestions of soompiers about which one is better.
I'm also caring about the price, I don't want it to be too expensive~ sweatingbullets.gif

I have both products.

And I can tell you right now, the hardest thing about helping someone pick an MP3 player is not knowing their needs before doing so.

What do you want in one and what are you going to mainly use it for?

well, the basic thing is that i use it to listen to music. and i sometimes watch videos and sometimes to read texts.
i heard that with the samsung YP-P2, we can use bluetooth and connect it to our phone right?

i've owned the p2 for some what 8months. the bluetooth you can pair it with your mobile phone and make phone calls using it. its handy but i found i didnt use it a lot since i barely called anyone.

the p2's screen has more colours than the touch, personally, the size of the p2 is nice in your hand and you can use it one handed where as the touch is a little bigger and i feel its not as nice to hold and use because of it being wider.

if you were thinking about the P2, i'd wait a little because there's suppose to be releasing something new at the end of the year. i think it was the P3 but not sure

I just got the new ipod touch and I love it. My friends gather around it when watching music videos because there is a speaker. The apps are really fun with the speaker aswell.

If you want to mainly use it for music then get a P2. The P2 has much better sound quality than the Ipod (if you get the right earbuds + sound file). If you sometimes watch videos then the P2 should suffice since you're most likely not going to worry about the sizing and quality anyway.

Yes the YP P2 can connect to the phone. I use it whenever I want to transfer files from my phone to my P2 to my computer (since my Phone can't connect to my computer for some reason).

Don't get my wrong, the Ipod Touch is a great device, however, I honestly use the Ipod more as a multi-media device than a music player. Ex. Notes, To Do's, Tasks, etc.

The iphone I have a lot of positive and negatives, honestly to sum it up... it's good for a showoff phone but other than that, I'd rather go with the P2

the best thing you could do is compare their functions..
with the ipod touch you can use safari. p2 you have bluetooth

ive had the p2 for almost a year now
and what made me decide to get the p2 is that not a lot of people have it, use it mainly for listening to music anyways (if i were to browse the internet id use my laptop), watch videos during trips.

the screen is just the right size, if it were any smaller it would be a strain.
i put HQ videos on my p2 and even the subtitles came out crystal clear. my mom who is nearsighted could even see them.

the best thing about ipod touch is its wifi connection. When you go anywhere and bored you can try to connect to the internet (if theres one available in the area...) so it's really convenient if ur always on the go and need the internet.
Besides you can get tons of games and other apps. They are fun and addicting =D

Someone please enlighten me...the new itouch (2generation) has speaker?? o.o wow thats awesome...

If your primary interest is sound quality, get the P2.
We all wear masks. Everyone, everyday... sometimes we wear them so much, we forget who we really are. And sometimes if we're lucky, someone comes along and shows us who we really want to be, who we should be.

Tumblrrr.

LOL I'm typing from my iPod right now at school. The wifi is really convienient when you're bored. The downfall is that most places password protect their routers. But I have found some good uses for it such as being stuck in Vancouver and being able to find the phone number of a place with the use of wifi. happy.gif

i have the p2. i like it very much. the updates are nice and its great that you can create your own skin and all.

but maybe its just me but i think its a hassel adding music. unlike an ipod, where you just plug it in and it auto syncs it and your playlist. you would first add the song(s) into your p2. then add it to your playlist. then readd the whole playlist into your mp3 player.

and you do that playlist thing everytime you add a new song to it.

the whole creating a playlist on the go, yea, you cant alphabitize it so yea.

UNLESS someone else has a different way of doing this stuff, plese pm?

i get pissed off when i have to do the whole playlist thing. >.<

I think the iTouch is a good entertainment device. You can listen to music, watch movies, surf the web, and play some really fun games. The interface is also pretty intuitive and most ipods are compatible for a few years of updates. If you want a multiuse device get the iTouch. However, I've heard that the P2 has good sound and has a few things that the iTouch does not. But my suggestion is iTouch. And I'm not an Apple fangirl (I hate macs with a passion), but you cannot deny the quality of the material and the shear amount of help you can get if you have an iPod, iTouch, or Apple products in general. I mean, what other company has it's own store for you to get instant help? So although they may not be the best, there's no denying that they're not good products.

the i touch hands down
i bought the p2 last year
and i had the choice of getting the touch.. but i chose the p2 instead
i regret it a lot
the touch has so much more nicer applications (esp. the internet)
i always play with my friends' touch and the touch if def. better

the only good thing about the p2 is the updates i guess...

but i stil prefer the touch

I've had P2 for almost a year already and seriously, this is the best mp3 player I've owned!! it comes with cool firmwares (updates), the quality is good, like the music, and there's the DNSE technology where you can change the effects on how you want to listen to that song. Like Rock, Concert Hall (I love this one, it makes you feel like you're at a concert), Normal, Hip Hop vice versa. Oh yea you can also change the wallpaper, and of course the bluetooth part. it works, I tried and was happy with the results.

I've never owned an iPod Touch before, so I can't tell you that. But I did own iPod video, I really like the playlist thing, but the battery drains faster than P2 (according to my own experience, please don't get me wrong)
