just wondering...

Do you give TIP in states?

are you generous or not so...?..

to the waiter/waitress?
to the hotel housekeeper?
to bartender
to taxi driver

Whenever something difficult comes up in my life,
I've made it a habit to say to myself, "at least it won't kill you."

yes, i believe it is common courtesy to do so... usually around 15-20% of the meal. however, i dont tip if food or service was bad.. and im not being picky or jewish about it either... sometimes its just that bad.

oh and tip goes to the waiter/waitress i would hope... as they are the ones who serve you.

Yea, roughly 15% should be put down on the table as a form of gratitude towards the person who was at your service. Heck, even the pizza delivery guy gets a tip, maybe $2? you know, just for that extra effort of driving down and delivering your pizza?

I DON'T tip taxi drivers however. Maybe because the ones I've encountered were super rude. Aren't they suppose to help you put your stuff in the trunk and all that? One time this guy told me that he was gonna take a shortcut and I ended up coughing up more dough outta my wallet. Plus, if I'm unlucky and only have big bills, some of them refuse to give change. So that's why I never tip them, lol. sweatingbullets.gif

how about if the service was good but the food was awful?

i think you should still give tip to the server, since its not his/her fault.

anyway...its just my opinion. hehe smile.gif

just wondering...

Do you give TIP in states? Yes, I'm from Houston and we tip over here sweatingbullets.gif

to the waiter/waitress? Yes, every single time. They don't get paid that much so they rely on their tips.
to the hotel housekeeper? My boyfriend does so I don't.
to bartender I don't buy my own drinks so no I don't.
to taxi driver Yes, I do.

I think it's common courtesy to tip no matter what type of service you get. Well for me, I tip at least 20% but if the service/food was really great, I tip more accordingly. laugh.gif

Yeah, it really does depend on the customer service. If it's really slow, I would subtract a buck. Lols.

Typically, I don't eat at any restaurants that are very pricey, so if my meal costs $7, I tip $2. Plus, when I go out to eat, I'm not alone and my friends also leave tips of roughly the same amount. But, if I did go to a more up scale restaurant, I would tip more (if the service and food are good).
It's just the radio.

in australia it's not customary to tip ~
if the service was exceptional maybe, but it's not expected of you.

It obviously depends on service but they do adequate job, I typically tip ~30%.

My GF say I'm too generous at times.

I work at a restaurant myself and so I know how things are for waitresses who depend on tips. I usually give about 15-30% depending on how good the service was.

If the service was bad, I'd tip the minimum. (10-15%) but if the service was good, I'd tip them way more.

My friend and I went to a Japanese restaurant where the guy got down on his knees to talk to us and everything.

Our bill came out to $50, and we tipped him $10 =)
