I was just curious to as what did you guys do for your volonteer hours? Feel free to share your thoughts, like was is enjoyable? how were the people you worked with and so on.
Just trying to get some ideas because I need to start doing volonteer work.

i volunteered one summer at my local library as a summer book buddy, where i sign up kids and adults for the summer reading program, and hand out goody bags to them if they do. i also planned some activities for everyone to do, and also help out with the library people.

right now, im volunteering/helping out at my school's record room, and it's pretty awesome, cause you get to know the school's faculty a bit better cause you're doing filing, and people just come in and out, and you can talk to them. XD

i use to volunteer during freshmen year at the school library, but i lost the paper that said i earned my credits, so that sucks.

but, you can volunteer almost anywhere.

i volunteered at a hospital this past summer. there were about 40 people and only 3 guys >< we were either put into different departments and floors to help them out with whatever they needed, had to sit at the office and take phone calls, look up where people's rooms were, deliver gifts and letter, take a coffee cart around, set up popcorn stand, and other stuff. lol honestly i didnt enjoy it too much because the people acted like they knew everything and were kinda snobby, and they wouldnt help us much.. but at least i had my friend there to do it with me

i volunteered at a marsh preserve doing habitat restoration. at first i only signed up cuz i didnt get accepted for hospital volunteering, but i grew to enjoy my experience at the preserve.

also it helped me find an interest in a hobby: gardening, which was essentially what i did there

i volunteered at my cousin's work place for a big Christmas parties two years in a row. it was fun :]
but this year i wont be doing it lol
then i was the head manager of the boys basketball team last year

I volunteered at a community office/preschool for one year --> 500+hours
ALso at this disabilty center for half a year. --> bout 200 hours

i volunteered for most of my hours at a nursing home. i helped the recreational office, making games and playing them with the elderly. also, we put up posters for them, put in movies, etc.

i worked at a nursing home. i just found out today i got over 600 hours total from it x__x the work itself wasn't exactly the most exciting thing ever, but i liked it because some of the people i volunteered with over the years became my best friends. so as lame as it sounds, i don't regret spending 600 hours of my life at the nursing home lol. :)

i volunteer regularly at the local community art/music school. i help out with pretty much anything and everything haha. filing papers, TAing, greeting people at events, etcetc. it's pretty fun. :) there are a lot of cute little kids running around (umm and maybe some cute employees too LOL)..

if you don't really know what you want to do, it's helpful to just start at school ^^
in USA there's a national 'key club' volunteering club, maybe CAN has something like that too ?

I volunteered at a lot of cultural events and helped out at a Foster Home office as well as the events.

I've been volunteering at a hospital for almost two years with about 200hours. It sucks though, because our supervisor continues to recruit more and more volunteers until eventually none of the departments need you. =___=

And also, AIDS Walk L.A., Pasadena Rose Floats, Irwindale Speedway, Tofu Festival, etc.

I volunteered at a nursing home during the summer. got exactly 40 hours..then they kicked me out cuz apparently my friend and I were troublemakers. and I did like 10 hrs helping with my old middle school teacher afterschool every week but she retired and didnt even tell me so i never got my hours. I'm also in Key Club. it's fun.

i am gonna volunteer at the choc hospital near my school every saturday for four hours or just spreading it out through out the week to bad you have to serve four hours a week HAHA and i might just join youth group at my church and yeah

and it is always nice to join clubs that do community services so it's a win win situation sorta LOL...

Hmm I mostly volunteer within the school. I'm part of the Leo Club in my school, which is a club that helps out with community projects such as selling snacks at the football games, helping with holiday events, etc. Also I used to volunteer in the libraries [in school and out of school]. Nowadays, I'm not really volunteering for anything. But in the summer, if i have time, I might possibly consider volunteering in the hospital or the fire department. I'm sure it's gonna be fun...
