i would never date a "fob" with broken english, my canto is pretty bad as it is, and the miscommunication would completely frustrate me

BUT, to answer your question...
why no? i'm a CBC (canadian born-chinese), and i'm dating a fob.
i have lived in Canada my whole life, never lived in hk, my bf was born and lived in hk, he moved to canada for like three years... we have been tgt for a year or so. but that's becuz i can speak cantonese fluently (his english sucks, sigh).
so i guess yes, i would date a fob.
the question is: why wouldn't abcs date fobs? if the abc knew chinese, or if the fob knew english, then there would be no problems. duh?
(hm, i hope my answering to this topic won't earn me a ban or something o.o)

Although I am dating one right now -___-' Main reason is I can't stand having to translate for my friends when we all hang out together. When i first went on a date with my current BF we spoke English through out the whole date, it wasn't until later his poor English irked me -__-'
Honestly, I can't stand talking to him in my native tongue in front of my parents.

it also seems ppl that have grown up overseas tend to be more jokey and relaxed...so sometimes they don't realise you're not being serious o_o

And no, I doubt that I would date a fob for several reasons.
Communication, unless he can speak English fluently. Most of all, we would be too different in the way we think, our style, cultural ways, and maybe he would want to or need to go back to his country often.
