It's more of a self-consciousness issue...but if you yourself are perfectly fine with the way you look wearing heels....then by all means go ahead!
I'm not as tall as you but when I wear medium-size heels and walk through an Asian-dominated area I do get stares....so that's why I don't do it hehe XD
About the feet-damaging thing, heels just hurt imo...but you can practice walking in them or putting those insoles in to alleviate the problem.

i actually saw an article in the newspaper talking about how some women get surgery on their foot due to problems caused by wearing high heels O_O'' apparently its painful and very expensive >< but i think wearing them sometimes is okay

You can still wear heels, just an inch or two. Nothing too high. Actually I find it somewhat scary wearing heels..
It's a long way down
btw I'm taller than you

about heels causing damage to your feet, it depends how high, how often you wear them and ultimately the shape of your foot, like if you have wide feet etc, can cause bunions,
i heard long term wearers also easily get cracked heels but then again i'm not too sure on that one

-since most of your weight is going to the ball of your foot, you can get blisters/corns/etc. it would be difficult for you to walk if you damage that part and also your big toe. it could even disable you from walking if it's severely damaged.
-most heels push your toes together, kind of like binding and that can cause deformities like hammertoes/blisters/etc.
-high heels alter your balance(pushes your body forward) which causes you to put stress on your knees...and could cause problems in the knee joints
there's more but thats all i can remember.
nothing wrong with wearing them though unless you're wearing them 24/7. i mean..heels are hot. why wouldn't you want to wear them? remember, beauty is pain and sacrifice
and to the poster above. shoes too big and shoes with open backs(sandals/flipflops/mules) cause cracked, calloused heels because it allows the bottom of the foot to expand and harden/crack. sounds pretty gross, yeah?
another reason could be that you have dry skin or because you've been standing for long hours. use a pumice stone to get rid of the excess skin! callouses and cracked heels aren't that much of a biggie since it's the most common deformity.

If you think you look good in them just wear 'em. (:
I know for a fact that high heels makes your legs thinner. <3

Even it pains

my mom has been wearing high heels for 20+ years now, and a bone in her feet stick out now, because of high heels.
anyways, if you don't have a problem with being even taller, then you should go for it

even if it's just for clubbing, you'll end up with bunions on the toes that rub against the leather (that is, if you even purchase a pair of leather shoes. skip synthetic leather altogether)
and try to find a pair of high heels that fit your instep (basically your arch) you don't wanna buy them too high where the arch of your foot doesn't even touch the shoe and you don't want the heel height to be too high that all your body weight is on the balls of your feet.
just buy a pair of manolo blahnik's. you can't go wrong with his shoes unless your arch starts closer to your heel
l♥ve;
it's push and shove. sinnin' to feel heaven just for the hell of it.
contradictions, constant attraction, distraction...
so break my heart for what breaks yours & look after my heart; i've left it with you.

And they tell me not to wear heels either, but why shouldn't we? Embrace your height, because all those short girls who tell you not to wear are just jealous C:

I'm actually quite shocked by that. I wouldn't think someone would stare at you for wearing heels even if they do make you slightly taller.
Anyways I say go for it, just be comfortable regardless of your height. Remember most of us girl will look at you with jealousy. I wish I was 5'8.
