Oskar, a bullied 12-year old, dreams of revenge. He falls in love with Eli, a peculiar girl. She can't stand the sun or food and to come into a room she needs to be invited. Eli gives Oskar the strength to hit back but when he realizes that Eli needs to drink other peoples blood to live he's faced with a choice. How much can love forgive? Let The Right One In is a story both violent and highly romantic, set in the Stockholm suburb of Blackeberg in 1982. - John Nordling, producer

I really want to see this! I mean the premise of the story sounds so interesting, first love with a vampire. Not to mention the main characters are children. I always marvel at talented young actors/actress who can play stark and subtle emotions. I don't know how they do it^^

The film also has excellent reviews on Rotten Tomatoes; 97%.

Bleh, I might have to wait till it comes out on DVD though.

I found it online though I'm contemplating whether I should wait for the 14th, in which case my sisters may change their mind and we will not be going to SF, or watch it right now despite the tiny screen.

I have been reading so many good reviews and now I really want to see it! I hope it comes out soon in California. The theatre in my city plays foreign and indie movies so I can't wait till it's released.

I agree, I had just seen this a couple weekends ago and was impressed by the acting chops of the two very young leads. I can't really comment on Twilight as I've never read the book nor am I enticed by the hype over it, but Let The Right One In was one heck of a compelling vampire love story that was as pure as it was innocent.

The positive review by Egbert makes me want to see it but the local indie theater is like 50 miles away. dry.gif

I hate the majority of American's taste in movies, books, tv shows, etc. I can't see this show anywhere while Twilight is shown in 5 screens at one theater near my house. Another theater 5 miles away is also showing twilight in five screens.

Word. I watched this Sunday and loved it. Even without the vampire element, the movie would still be superb.

I kinda want to read the book just to get more details about Eli and her past and the man who took care of her, etc... probably won't though. boo.

If you want to know a little bit more about the girl and the man's character, I would suggest going to imdb.com, searching for "Let the Right One In", and looking up the bulletin board topics for this particular movie. I didn't read the book for this movie as well but I gleaned a lot from this bulletin board in regards to interesting plot points in the book that were left out of the film. Although there are a couple of key plot points that weren't explicitly conveyed from the book, the film still stood out on it's own merits/interpretation. But once you learn how Eli came to be a vampire and her symbiotic relationship with the 'father-figure' man, it will make you really re-think about the love story between the two young characters and realize just how 'pure' their affection for each other is. There are more boundaries other than a vampire-human one that their relationship surpasses.

planning to watch this movie soon (hopefully tonight smile.gif)
i actually thought it was just gonna be another twilight - and i do despise all mediocre love stories whether under the pretense of being a horror movie or not.

but then i saw the trailer and read about all the positive comments - can't wait to catch it now smile.gif

I went to Austin, and my friend & I were looking for a movie to watch. I saw the preview... and it seemed a bit scary. We didn't know what to expect, cuz we've never heard of it. The only reason we chose this movie was because of the theatre it was playing at. We went but we were actually like 10-15minutes late. I absolutely LOVE this movie. There were a few parts that were a bit too grotesque for me, but I still love it. It's a vampire movie and the people in here are really good at acting. The ending was HILARIOUS! My friend and I couldn't stop laughing and talking about it. Definitely a must watch

I heard about this movie from a radio program here in the Philippines and OMG, i watched it just now and it was freaky!!!

The story is very good though. I'm a big fan of vampire stories and this isn't your teeny vampire story like Twilight.

i kinda hesitated about this movie since at first glance it reminded me of Twilight, which i despise with passion.

but reading alot of positive reviews of it and the trailer made me curious - its got that dark pans labyrinth feel to it, another movie i loved.
