Lately I've been running out of books to read. And today I'm feeling a trip to the bookstore. Anyone willing to recommend a good book they've read? I like books that have the main character as a social outcast who is not right in the head.
examples would be;
The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
Good Will Hunting (movie)
any suggestions would be great.

If you liked Catcher in the Rye, you'll probably like these ones:
A Separate Peace by John Knowles
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

I don't know about a social outcast not being right in the head, but Naked by David Sedaris is a memoir and I thought it was pretty amusing. I remember laughing right at the first chapter. (He seems a little um, not normal so that's why I'm recommending this + his other books - Barrel Fever, Me Talk Pretty One Day.)

I saw the name Holden Caulfield and I just had to check out this thread! Catcher in the Rye was my fav fav book and i have not found anything as good...prob except Metarmorphosis by Franz Kafka...its pretty twisted and social outcast-ish. pretty damn depressing too.
ill check out the other recommendations in this thread =D

Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami - it's like the Japanese version of The Catcher in the Rye(in some ways I think). The main character Watanabe has a lot of similarities with Holden,,
