i'm trying to edit my friend's video with movie maker
and they have a sony handycam
but when i tried to open up the files
they are all .bup or .vob
how to i covert them and then open it onto movie maker?
it opens on media player though

sounds like a codec issue, I dont know about movie maker, but have you tried another video editing program perhaps? Maybe one was provided with the camera she bought? I highly recommend Corel VideoStudio 12 btw. Very easy to use.

try converting the videos...
use 'Any Video Converter' or 'Free Video Converter'
after that they should work on windows movie maker..
